Honestly, a lot of things I say are just pulled from what I know and I don't look up any of this stuff. (I'm guessing no one else does either, but I know a lot about baseball because I'm always around it) So yeah, I just thought that because I can't think of too many teams out there that had better hitting. I mean, the Phillies & maybe the Dodgers. The Dodgers were just clutch. Like I said before, they did have the top hitting in the NL (I believe), but they didn't have anyone hit .300+ or score 100+ runs.

Eh, I just looked up the St.Louis lineup & you're right, they don't have too much outside of Holliday and Pujols. But they definitely had one of the best pitching staffs in the NL.

Actually, that title by and large belongs to the Dodgers if you're looking at things like team ERA and bullpen ERA. Yeah, the Cardinals have a really nice 1-2 punch at the front of their rotation but that's it.

Had the NLDS gone to five games, they were going to have Carpenter pitch game 4 and Wainwright pitch game 5.

If that doesn't tell you anything about how they feel about the rest of their pitching staff, then I don't know what to say.

Actually, St.Louis has the best pitching coach in the Major League. I don't remember his name, but many players and commentators recognize him as the top pitching coach.

it's a lineup full of good hitters though, in terms of average. most of them are above league average.

hey joel pineiro has been really good this year (yes i know he failed game 3)

cardinals bullpen was pretty good until ryan franklin decided to not be good down the stretch and ruin my fantasy team

also dodgers and cardinals pitching staffs are pretty equal; dodgers lead in ERA (3.41 to 3.66), strikeouts (1272 to 1049) while the cardinals lead in bb and bb/9 (460 to 584 which is a huge difference and their total innings pitched is about the same) and saves ratio (43/57 in saves to 44/70) for a couple of examples lol

dodgers and cardinals WHIP are similar, but dodgers walk more people while the cardinals give up more base hits (dunno who gives up more xbh, fangraphs is only showing basic team stats). more walks = shorter outings, higher bullpen usage but their era is also a bit lower so meh

if i had carpenter and wainwright in the front of the rotation i'd start them game 4 and game 5 regardless of who i had behind pineiro (assuming health not a factor)

Angels swept Boston...that's about as much of an upset as the Dodgers sweep was. I'm pretty sure the Sox were pretty heavy favorites.

Angels scored 5 runs in the last two innings to win. God damn.

I'm pretty sure they weren't even favorites, if they were then it was a joke. Angels had a better record in the season and they had home field advantage. The only possibility I could think of is Boston might have been a favorite because the Angels NEVER win in Boston.

I don't get why anyone would ever base favoritism over what happened a year ago, both teams are different teams.

Yeah I didn't see any Boston favoritism. Pretty sure Yanks will take it tonight. Although the Yanks have struggled against the Angels they have proven to overcome that this year. Looking forward to a brutal Yankees winning-streak.

I'm not talking about on TV, or in terms of TV coverage. Statistically, they were favorites, meaning that most baseball analysts had picked them to win the series.
