Yeah, I know what I'm talking about. Considering I utterly raped admissions, I have every right in the world, lol.

man, I failed two out of four classes, passed the rest with b's, and still got admitted to something better than community college. If that's not skull****ing admissions I don't know what is.

Let's brag about how much we suck. I kinda like this.

Okay, yes, pushing yourself is good, but twenty AP classes or whatever some of you freaks are taking is kinda beyond reasonable. In my humble opinion.

No one is saying taking all AP classes can't be a good idea. It just isn't a necessity.

Most people in america don't take all AP classes in highschool. A lot of people seem to be doing ok.

You don't NEED to take a hard schedule to be successful, but it will help your chances a ton if you're able to do it. If not, it's not the end of the world *shrug*. Most people, on average, are reasonably okay. If you want to be better than okay, then it's worth investing in yourself. That's all.

But hey, if you want to disregard my advice and lowball yourselves and not invest in your own future, go right ahead.

Uhm correct me if I'm wrong but AP Art History means nothing to someone who is aiming to major in Nursing. Yeah, it may give you a well-rounded education but it doesn't mean **** when it actually comes down to having a successful career in something that's totally different from what you took in high school.

No, it doesn't have relevance, but I'm talking about making it into a good school that has a decent program in the field of your choice -- in this case, you'll probably need good grades all around. Chemistry doesn't mean **** in business, but it doesn't mean I didn't have to do well in it.

But if you are capable of making the plan for yourself/learning what you need to learn to get where you want without a good school, then all the power to you. Certain fields are very competitive, and it's hard to acquire the skills you need all by yourself depending on the field.

The advantage of having a good education boils down to resources, the people, the networking, the material, the rigor, the activities, the gateways into the fields you want, etc.

And what I'm doing doesn't? I'm not low balling myself the career I'm going into is one I will love, and will do more than support my future lifestyles. Not quite sure how that would be lowballing myself. I can understand taking a whole bunch of hardcore courses if you want to be a scientist, lawyer, doctor, engineer, and I'm sure some more things but I want to be an IT guy. I wouldn't want any other realistic job in the world that I know of. Again, know what you want to do, then achieve what you need to get there, don't slack off though.

while i agree completely that taking a relatively rigorous course load throughout high school is a good thing and will help you get into schools, it isnt exactly vital for your overall career goals. i mean sure if you want to be a rocket scientist and plan on going to mit, this conversation is irrelevant because youre already taking 52 classes a day. on a broad scale, just about any accredited university you go to for undergrad studies is going to be about the same. obviously theres the harvards and stanfords out there, but you'll be fine just about anywhere; and you can get in just about anywhere with a pretty average schedule as long as you do well.
