You don't, if you partition a single hard drive. But for those of us with two (like myself), it's convenient enough to just install one on one hard drive and one on the other. When you start up the computer, it gives you the option of which to boot, and defaults to Win7 if you don't choose anything.

ULTIMATE PROOF W7 IS BETTER THAN XP!

While in XP, if I flipped my screen resolution upside down so I could play FFR in mirror, it would lag completely to hell.

With W7, when you flip the screen, there's 0 lag, nothing is affected. It runs ****ing PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Re: Windows 7 Beta release!

        Encountered first problem with Win7.

StarCraft isn't working. It says it can't find the file font/font.gid, which some Googling claims stores the CD key used to install the game. I've tried running both the game and the installer (digital version) as an administrator, but no dice. Since Win7 is very closely related to Vista, I wonder if any Vista users have experienced this and might know what the problem is.

            Windows7 ultimate x64

Driver works perfectly it seems, everything works as fast or faster than XP pro
            love how driver auto installs.

everything is smooth, video is fast render.
does not do well under stress, worse than xp32bit, when ram usage approach max, things freeze up instead of slowing down as it usually would in my xp32bit. although this might be because of hd speed. need to get me some SCSIs

i like the 2gb hardware reserve though ;D
            nice ram management
            clean interface

wonder what happens when w7 ultimate meets adobe cs4 ps/illy ;3

            the 'doesn't work's
            some foreign language programs
            applocale cant seem to install
TABLET, pressure setting doesn't work on my tooya pro , of all the things to not work, why this >.>'
gpu acceleration setting on pscs4 cause of lack of nvidia support driver.

amd athlon 64fx dual 2.8 oc 3.0 just cause 3.0 looks better

Sorry I'm just going to be a ****** and step in here to suggest FF3 over any form of IE. It has security issues, isn't open source (no add-ons), and you can get a IE8 theme for FF3.

Vista honestly isn't that bad. When my friend first got it 2 years ago, personally at a first glance I thought it was crap. After learning a lot more about computers over the past few years, Vista really is good. All this excessive RAM people say it use, is really it just using RAM that isn't currently being used to preform background tasks, however they're set at a lower priority than applications or what the user is actually doing. I also hear you can disable all those stupid pop-ups that ask you if you really want to do things. Those aren't really a bad idea anyway as they prevent a lot of malware from doing things but there are always work-arounds eventually.

If you wanted to do this on XP or any other OS you could download a 3rd party codec...it's what I've done with this computer for XP because the codec I got by default was corrupted as I'm not running a legit copy of Windows.

I have to clear up some space on my HD first. Stupid 80GB HD Unless someone here thinks that booting from my portable HD is better than putting the OS as a dual on my normal HD. (XP is the other). I'll probably be installing Tuesday, I can't wait.

I tried, but it is saying something about the sources not being available. I dunno, but i believe it would work on a dvd. Might just burn it on another computer.

Yeah there have been problems with 64-bit I hear from reading some forums. 32-bit is better anyway since life hasn't moved into 64-bit yet :3

As for Relam's starcraft problem, I can't really say what's wrong there. I'm not encountering that problem. Hell mine installed in about a minute and a half with no error and runs perfectly. o.O??? So that's a good issue to bring up if you ever feel to leave feedback.

I'm still running random tests on things and checking all the options to make sure functionality and personalization is at a good level :3 I'm a good microsoft b*itch...*cough*... tester... I'm a good tester.

I DID encounter one problem and that was when I tried to put Vray on my 3DS Max, it gave me a resources not found error or something so that currently is the only "bug" I've encountered on W7. I have ran 3 separate stress tests on my computer and no problems there in terms of hardware being used by the OS.

Still trying new things so I'll report back when I finish them

EDIT - After realizing your error Relambrian, I had an error like that once in XP for starcraft as well and all I did to resolve it was I torrented a Starcraft game and took the file from it and replaced it with my comps files. It was a different file that had the error though so I don't know if that would work for you.

EDIT2 - OH and I just realized this Rene 6GB is nice but as with these new OS's, they will begin more so to utilize the transfer rates at which the hardware communicates with the mobo. Hence why they are working on PCI-Express 32x and/or PCI-Express 16x 3.0. Also soon to come through are full utilization of PCI-Ex 1x and 4x since PCI is WAY out of date and has a very low data transfer speed. I tested this with sound cards and in fact, sound comes through clearer on an Express 1x slot as compared to a regular PCI slot. So what I'm getting at is that as OS's continue to improve, hardware needs to as well so like your DDR2 800MHz RAM, though being 6GB helps, still will run far slower than say the user recommended of DDR3 1200 or higher for Windows 7 and whatever comes after. I'm using DDR2 800 as well which sucks but, as with most of us, it's all I could afford XD

Size doesn't matter if you can get the work done efficiently and fast. So having 8GB of RAM is nice but if it's at 800MHz it's pretty worthless. As with new techs and speeds now, DDR3 4GB at 1600MHz will do that same job as the 8GB. As transfer speeds increase, the less RAM that will be needed to use as the bridge for the memory to jump across.

800mhz, but at lower timing still beats those cheaper 1600 with like 9-9-9-28s though..

i did encounter something more than just a bug it seems
magic iso virtual drive freezes my os, and killed my cmos(which i think is only by chance but still) i had to load in with safe mode and uninstall iso disc
to even start w7 again, and now i am getting certification error on windows live messenger and can go on any mmorpg, which i think roots to the same error, not really knowledgeable in this field, any ideas? , i dont wanna go through the pain of installing w7+all the programs again..takes forever >.>

i've tried auto repair , the auto repair apparently failed, and microsoft tried to auto repair the auto repair, which was pretty epic fail.

nvm, went out of my way and re done everything...
