I get 15-20 more FPS while playing games while running XP so that's good enough for me.He who angers you conquers you. ~Elizabeth KennyComment

Re: What the ****
XP > Vista, don't even argue. Vista requires 1-1.5 GB more RAM than Xp does because it's such a hog on power. Also, 64-bit XP allows you to use plug-in flash RAM like Vista does so there's absolutely no use or need for Vista.
The people who defend Vista are the people who are stuck with it and can't go back to XP for whatever reason.Originally posted by Djr Rap dancerAlcohol make peoples retard.

uh oh looks like someone's completely clueless and talking out their ass
Vista doesn't constantly use memory. Instead of just letting free RAM sit around doing nothing, Vista uses it to speed up whatever you might do next.

i'm sorry what did you sayThe people who defend Vista are the people who are stuck with it and can't go back to XP for whatever reason.
oh okay thought soThe people who attack Vista usually don't know a damn thing about it and just like to repeat what they hear everyone else say because bandwagoning makes you cool.Comment

@Dawn:
Idea!
How about you buy a decent computer instead of relying on 1GB of RAM and a 128MB video card for your 120GB HDD?
Maybe Vista wouldn't be so slow if you kept up with hardware. I've never once had a single issue with Vista on my custom-built machine. Tokzic built his as well. We both chose Vista. We could have easily bought XP, but what's the point? Our computers don't suck ass, so they have no problem running a benchmark operating system. In fact, this rig was just a little over a grand and I more than exceed the maximum system recommendations for Vista.
Hell, my parents bought a Dell for $300 that has 4GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD. Obviously has no problem running Vista. They didn't want it at first but I told them it'd be the same as XP. And you know what, they haven't had a single issue with Vista either despite being computer illiterate.
Get with the damn times.
As for NFD, you have no reason to switch to Vista, so don't bother.Comment

Re: What the ****
I will get Vista as soon as everythings worked out, until then I'm sticking to XP.
@NFD asking what does he have to do: You have to delete the system 32 folder

Re: What the ****
Everything has been worked out for ages. You're just buying into stereotypes.
But there's really no point in Vista at this point since Microsoft operates on a 3-year operating system cycle. Vista came out in 2006, so another OS will be released in 2009.Comment

Re: What the ****
Take Squeek's advice and wait. Besides, Vista has its issues, and they've kept me from switching. And trust me, I could have switched.
Vista is problematic because you cannot write to your Program Files drive. So, you have to find a new place to install everything - which is fine, until you forget once and go along your merry way clicking "Next" on a program you're installing. Then you're screwed if the program writes ANYTHING to its own folder.
Also, it's not compatible with a few things - Flash being one of them. Maybe if you have 11 GB of RAM it's not a problem, I dunno, but on the computer I played on, with 5 GB of RAM and a perfectly fine processor, I lagged like hell. If you cherish FFR, don't get Vista.Comment

Re: What the ****
I think I know what happened:
You downloaded a file (with a special win32 attacking bot), and it disguised itself as the safe download portion (depending on where you downloaded it, this virus, or bot, not really sure on the names these things... too lazy to check) of the file, and slowly it started accessing your files, and then, ultimately, reached your win32 and controlled your hard drive via the files, then deleted it as to say win32 can delete itself if it could think to do so.
EDIT: It happened to me, and my desktop wouldn't show up since it manipulated my Win32 (as the warnings were saying I had before the take over) and I couldn't go anywhere past that... so I had to use a disc system recovery to get things back... and no back-up files...
if you did, it's probably lingering somewhere among those files since it multiplies like bacteria. (unless you haven't had it long enough to take over all files and it already got removed)Last edited by ~kitty~; 12-19-2008, 06:44 AM.Comment

He said in the OP that he didn't download anything. Maybe something he got a while ago?
Otherwise, that can't be right.Comment

Re: What the ****
This is why you should save your stuff elsewhere. Maybe an external hard drive. That's what I do anyway, but yeah, that really sucks. Something similar happened to my friend when I was in 7th grade and we found out later that someone had hacked into his computer somehow and destroyed everything and then posted pictures of his sister (which were on the comp) all over the internet. >_>' I don't know the exact details, but we knew it didn't happen for no reason.Comment

Re: What the ****
Windows 7 should be coming out within the next 2 years or so, so upgrading to Vista is pretty pointless. Windows 7 is confirmed to be an updated version of Vista, anyway.

I read a while ago that Windows 7 would be Vista, with less features, less built-in spyware, less built in pretty much everything.
I sure as hell hope that rumor is true.Comment

I've installed dozens of programs to Program Files.
I've never had a problem with Flash lag and I have 4GB RAM. But I don't play FFR.
Wait what.
