So then why can't we have a random **** forum? It would be nice. It seems like this may have been the original intention of the garbage bin, but that has since turned into a strange Communist Dictatorship thing.

This is a bump... but I don't see why you would want another forum...

If we have a "random" forum, we'll have a whole lot of BS threads not getting locked.

By the way, what kind of things show that a thread is about to be locked?
If it gets out of hand or starts some kind of argument break-out?

Im not trying to get into any arguments, I was just wondering. I thought a random thread may help move the random posts from this thread, because I think alot of people (including me, previously, somewhat) don't understand this thread. And mods getting angry and going on ban/lock rampages may help the forum, but it would also lead to many people getting angry who just had misunderstandings. I think that another forum would be a way of helping control crazy threads while keeping people happy.

The reason we don't have a forum for random **** is because we have the chat. If you want to just shoot the breeze with other people and aren't really trying to initiate a discussion on a topic, live chat works a lot better than forums.

Alternately, you could create a PMS account and go participate in the 1 Million Get thread, because there really aren't any rules pertaining to post content there (except for the standard "no illegal ****" rule and such, use common sense)

I've never seen a mod go on a ban/lock spree, and from the way you make it sound, it's like they rage and just ban whoever they want. Not the case.

Trust me, you don't get a ban on this website if you don't deserve it. If your thread gets locked, it's either breaking a rule, or it's an unhealthy cyst of a thread, and mods are removing it.

I don't think another forum would alleviate the problem, because there are always going to be people that don't read the rules, and don't understand that a forum is a place for discussion and content, not 'hey wuts up wats ur fav ice cream' kind of threads.

It has nothing to do with the mods, but much more the uneducated, ignorant forum user.

EDIT: Just to avoid confusion, when I say uneducated and ignorant, I'm referring to their knowledge of the forum rules -- not their actual intelligence.

i don't see how "don't suck or you'll get reamed" makes us a communist dictatorship

even in an anarchist nation, people are going to insult you if the only thing that comes out of your mouth is "random" things like "PANCAKE DOODY HUMP TRUCK LOL "

We all have our different interpretations on what is a unproductive or "bad" topic. How do we go on to define whether or not a topic is useless or not?

If you're going to post a thread, ask yourself three questions.

1) Will this thread have any discussion at all? If "no", then don't post it.

2) Will the discussion lead to heavy flaming? If "yes", then don't post it.

3) Does the forum benefit from this discussion? If "no", then don't post it.
