    Re: Money

there's definitely been threads like this before... and i've earned anywhere from about 70 cents/hour working as a CIT at a day camp when i was a kid to about 20/hour for a few months in a cubicle, hating every minute.

most of my job time was as a bank teller or head bank teller, ranging from about 9-13/hour.

        Re: Money

I used to work afternoons at a nursing home for $11.55/hr. and at the same time I worked at a paper mill, days shift, for anywhere from $17.50-35.00/hr depending on the day of the week or the amount of hours I could squeeze into the day.

But then I quit both of them to go to nursing school.

Holy **** lol, when I worked at McDonalds I made I think $8.50. I make $11 and print lottery tickets. My last job was a lot attendant at Crown Acura, I got paid to drift brand new cars and always hit something when I parked them. I loved it.

                Re: Money

I've had a bunch of jobs over the years. Some basic computer jobs were around 8/hr. One of my old internships at a law firm was around 10/hr before I went to college. Working for Penn Law, I made 8.50/hr. Macy's paid 10/hr for doing the Devil's work, but Nordstrom paid 11.75/hr (I can't believe I chose to go home that summer. What a stupid move that was). Some on-campus research assistant stuff was about 13/hr. I've also had a summer internship pay 35/hr, and I had some tutoring gigs that ranged anywhere from 30/hr to 50/hr depending on the type of tutoring it was.

However, what really matters is the time spent working. The 50/hr stuff was really infrequent, and so it didn't pack much of a punch in the end. The 35/hr one though brought in some decent bang.

The thing is, your earning potential really goes up like crazy in a short period of time. When you're 15-17 years old, you're basically looking at minimum wage unless you earn something better working for a family firm or something. At 18-20, you might be able to nail something in the 10-15/hr range for a fulltime job if you're a smart, hard-worker who knows how to look for decent jobs.

Once you start earning a salary, things skyrocket (but so do costs, unfortunately). I'm honestly really scared to enter the "real world." It's just around the corner for me. In less than a year I'm going to be entirely on my own.

                    Re: Money

Over the last 2 summers, I got $10/hr under the table cash for doing some manual labor for a daycare. That was glorious. Also this summer, I made $10/hr cash for working as a janitor at the same place for about a month. 5 days a week, 1.5-3hrs /day with a good friend of mine. Soooo easy.

Since November of last year, I've had a job on campus here as a lab consultant. I sit at a desk on my computer listening to music and playing games and such for $7.90/hr and $8.40 if I work between 12am and 8am. It's awesome
Funny stuff goes in this area right?

I make $11 an hour making gift baskets and managing the store. It's our slow season so I'm only pulling about 250 a week...during the holidays with commission and stuff I make about 1k a week.

I've worked a variety of jobs over the years. I wouldn't consider being a CIT at summer camp a job, but I did get about $100 for a few hours helping out per week during each 4-week session I spent there. I spent a couple summers during college in a cubicle doing tech support where I earned $5.15/hour my first year and $7.50 my second. I worked as a summer camp counselor for far less than minimum wage. I think over the summer after gas expenses taken out I probably made less than $1000 for the whole summer, and considering I wrecked my car that summer I lost a lot .

And most recently, I worked tech support for a health care software company. When I quit a couple months ago, I was on a yearly salary of $57,000, which probably says a lot about how unhappy I was there if I was willing to say no to that check.
