Tom Brady is out for the Year

The official source for NFL news, video highlights, fantasy football, game-day coverage, schedules, stats, scores and more.

YES!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!! I HATE BRADY!!!

Seriously, he's overrated. He was a backup at college, and last season was just a combination of him having a great team around him, although he did do pretty good.

I mostly hate him because of his Super Bowl wins in Super Bowl 36 and 38 (Rams and Panthers could have been SB champions but they weren't)

Although most of his touchdowns went to Randy Moss, who would make spectacular catches.

I wonder if the Patriots will fail to make the playoffs... probably not because they have Moss and Welker and a good defense and an easy schedule and division

Sucks for fantasy football players who picked him lol.

Good thing I didn't, not that I was going to... (I picked Romo)

He's not overrated, he pretty much carried them to the superbowl last year. But, then again I'm living in a house filled with Pats fans so there's no way I can't be happy at this news. Also Eagles kicked ass today... overall a positive day in the NFL.

I don't like Brady only because he's not on my favorite team, but I do feel sorry for him. I don't know if Pollard lunged at his knee or was blocked into him but oh well. Sucks for Brady, the NE organization, and the fans. But I'm sure they'll do alright with Cassell. He has a great cast around him. At least the 49ers will have less difficulty when they play. Go 49ers... You disappointed me again today.

I geuss you guys dont know the potential Matt Cassel actually has.

If he can blow the secondary of KC with a 60 yard bomb to Randy Moss, he has something special.

I hope that happens. Bills won today, 34-10 over Seahawks, and Jets have Favre and also won today, 20-14, but over the lowly Miami Dolphins.

Btw, how did Brady get hurt?

you make a thread... link to an article... yet don't know how he got hurt? then, on top of that, you have absolutely awful logic and thought progression to your ideas.

i'm always over critical of sports threads because a) i'm a die-hard sports fan who watches ESPN 10+ hours a day and knows every little thing going on every day in every sport and b) because 99% of FFR doesn't give a rat's ass about sports... so the few threads that are made need to be good so that maybe they'll attract some of the non-sports people to them.

No, I mean, i know he has a knee injury, I just wanted to know who hit him and why it was so devastating.

And what's so bad about my logic? All i said was that I HOPE that the Patriots don't make the playoffs, and I even provided good reasons why they might make the playoffs. I don't get the part about having bad logic...

Just watch Sportcenter. They'll show it at least 100 times between today and next week, and mention it about 500 times until next year.

As for me, I watched the game, so I saw it. My brother's pissed because he has Brady for Fantasy Football. I'm not because I have Moss. ^.^

That's true, they show 1 show and then just repeat it over and over until the next day where they get more breaking news about something else.

lol yep that's exactly one of the reasons why i didnt pick favre or manning or brady for fantasy football

it's because even though they never seem to get injured, they will eventually, i dont want to risk it. and this injury really hurts the patriots.

i also didn't pick mcnabb because he just gets injured every year lol.

Bernard Pollard hit him. According to Pollard, he didn't intentionally hit him. As Pollard was getting up it looked like the RB or FB pushed him into Brady's leg. When getting clipped like that and not anticipating the hit, it can really damage ligaments and tendons. In Brady's case it may be a torn acl. I don't think it's been confirmed yet. A torn CL will almost always take you out of the season.

Here's a link to the highlights.

Ok. So you post a link to an article... which you didn't read, because if you had, you'd have known who hit him... because it clearly says who hit him in the 2nd paragraph. There is also a video showing the play right at the top too. You also say you hate him... no reason given yet as to why, but I assume you'll get to that later on.

Seriously, he's overrated. He was a backup at college, and last season was just a combination of him having a great team around him, although he did do pretty good.
He's overrated? He's been to 4 Super Bowls and won 3 of them... and was named MVP in 2 of them. In Super Bowl 36, his team was the 2nd biggest underdog victor in SB history (behind the Giants this past year). He was a back up to Brian Griese for the 96 and 97 season, yes, but Griese was no slouch... he took Michigan to a National Title in 97 and had a decent professional career. Isn't like he was a backup to some nobody at a 1-AA school. Then he went on to start for 2 years, 98 and 99. Set a few records in the process too. Went 20-5 as a starter over those 2 years and won 2 bowl games.

Then the jump from college to last season, ignoring the 2 years as a college starter, the 3 super bowl wins, 4 pro bowls, and 7 full seasons in the NFL as a starter. You say his season was good because of the people around him... but then contradict yourself. Not to mention, he set an NFL record with 50 touchdown passes in 1 year. Is that all because of his teammates? Again... not like we're talking the Baltimore Ravens in 2000 with Trent Dilfer, who "managed" the team on offense just enough so the defense could win the games and the SB.

I mostly hate him because of his Super Bowl wins in Super Bowl 36 and 38 (Rams and Panthers could have been SB champions but they weren't)
OK... you hate him because he won, and you would have rather seen the Rams or Panthers win instead. I understand that... I'm a die-hard Eagles fan, and I would have liked to have seen them win against the Pats in SB 39. But, really, this does work against your case of him being overrated. And it is kind of shallow to hate someone because they're better than the players/team you want to win.

Although most of his touchdowns went to Randy Moss, who would make spectacular catches.
I thought we were done with talking about last year? Since we had jumped to 2001 and 2003... guess not. Back to 2007! Yes, Moss was a great addition to the Patriots in 2007, and they almost certainly would not have gone 16-0 without him, nor would Brady have had the kind of offensive season that he had... but you can't say that it was ALL Moss. Moss was ineffective in Oakland. You could easily make the case that it was Brady being a much better quarterback than Andrew Walter, Aaron Brooks, Dante Culpepper, or Josh McCown that resulted in Moss having a record setting performance. But, really, it was a combination of greatness out of both players working together that resulted in 50 touchdown passes for Brady and 23 of them to Moss. PS - You say that most of his TDs went to Moss... only 46% did, far less than "most", but still a ton.

I wonder if the Patriots will fail to make the playoffs... probably not because they have Moss and Welker and a good defense and an easy schedule and division
This is decent enough, I guess. A good point to have brought up earlier in the post though. You could also mention or discuss how effective you believe Matt Cassel will be in leading the Patriot offense compared to Brady. But, I do agree with you... they'll probably still make the playoffs. The Dolphins are still years away and the Bills/Jets are at least 7-9 teams, if not better, but the Patriots are one hell of a team. They play as a cohesive unit, and not a group of 11 individuals.

Sucks for fantasy football players who picked him lol. Good thing I didn't, not that I was going to... (I picked Romo)
You definitely could have worded this better. Not to mention, we all know that running backs make or break fantasy teams... not QBs. Without 2 top tier running backs, you could have Brady from last year and still not stand a chance in a competent league.

Anyway... hope that helps to show you the flaws in your post. Maybe you'll learn from it and become a better poster.

I'm personally happy that he's out for the year. I'm a Giant's fan but I don't hate the Pats as much as everyone else does...I just hate Tom Brady and Belichick. Now we'll see if the Pats can actually do good without that a-hole. Ever since his remark before last year's super bowl where he commented on the statement made by Burress and said "We're only gonna score 17 points? hahaha" I've hated that stuck up bastard. He's way too full of himself.

It's really ridiculous though how easy the Patriots schedule is...even after going 18-1 last season. They have maybe 3 tough games their whole season (Colts, Steelers, Chargers), meanwhile almost every other team has way more than that. They play the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills TWICE! WTF?! That's 6 easy games right there, with the exception of the Jets possibly now that Favre is backing them up. But they also play against the Raiders, Seahawks, Cardinals, Rams, Broncos, and 49'ers. Looks like a pretty easy schedule to me...and looks like Belicheat paid someone off for them to get it, sure it's probably not the case...but would you really put it past him?
