I can't remember the name of an author, like he wrote a story about an arabian city and cats. 1st on google
He wrote a lot of stories based on his dreams, he's famous for his nightmarish dreamscapes. 2nd on google
His books now have pictures of impaled bodies on the covers. 2nd on google
Hes not a recent author, he's famous and been dead for while 2nd on google
I know this but it's driving me ****ing insane oh god. 2nd on google
So yeah, this sounds like a book I want to read. o.O Heh, I'm of no contributing help here, I just am amazed by what the book sounds like and want to read it.

Dude, that was the most horrible description of a story i've every given.
The world he created was amazing, but his actual books written by him aren't actually very good.
Well, if you love 200 pages of raping a thesaurus, you'll love it. He really really LOVES needlessly big words to the point where many people find they need a dictionary at hand to get through them.
The work done by other authors using the Cthulhu Mythos is much better. All the awesomeness of the world Lovecraft created, and the books are actually readable for entertainment and not work.
Also, all the books end the same way anyway. The protaganist is either dead or insane.

Add to this, he's really, really awful at writing dialouge.
EDIT:
How the HELL do you not remember HP Lovecraft? I would have gotten that first guess had your synopsis been anywhere NEAR helpful, you bag of hammers.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor

You've just convinced me to go read the books in English instead of in Dutch lol.
I agree on what you said about the other authors' work - most of them do a great job.
@TS: Try Colin Wilson's The Mind Parasites, I recently found it on my parents' bookshelf, didn't even know about the book before that and it turned out to be based on the Cthulhu Mythos. :P
Best AAA: Diamond Heart (FFR edit)
Best sightread AAA: Ninjitsu (I know, I suck )
Jesus, I want to pound your face into a pudding with a sack full of gravy cans.
