    Edit: And the actual message.
I also don't use Antiviruses. Malwarebytes seems to work fine for live protection, while taking next to no RAM. It never uses CPU unless a scan is running, and even then it's only around 30%

I don't use anti-virus because you have have FF with NoScript (Or anything that serves the same Purpose) and a brain, you will never get a virus. Only time I got a virus is when I panicked to get my CAD summitive done and couldn't find any good torrents of Design Cad...decided to take my chances and next thing I know my desktop is a biohazard symbol and what time is it? "VIRUS ALERT!" around all 12 numbers on my clock and digital clock...hilarious really...until I got the Blue Screen of Death and had to repair my OS 3 times to get all necessary data before reformatting it and trust me, I tried doing everything to fix it.

I don't get viruses either, but there are lots of files I download that are iffy for obvious reasons like your CAD example. What I do is open a virtual machine of XP and run the programs in there. Malware can run wild in there all it wants; it won't harm my system at all.

Also a great way to tell if a program is legitimate or not before using it.

          Re: A Virus, Help?????

I have a suggestion. Buy a well known brand-name external hard drive (about 100-200$ for a 300gb I believe, but I've heard from people that you can get even better deals), backup all of your files and data you want to keep (you can even store programs on it if you plan on getting a EHD you can plug in and performs high speed transfers) and if you get a virus on your host computer, you can just reformat without the worry of loss.

The only downside to having a EHD is that they tend to break easily. (Mine fell off a high desk and just flat out stopped working). You might want to get a warranty, but at least you know 300+GB of your data will always be safe if you lug your EHD where ever you go. If you're on a laptop, it might seem to be a hassle, but think of it this way... You may want to collab with someone on a project or borrow someone else's computer. You have all your data with you and you can directly share at around 15mbs from the computer to the EHD. I loved my EHD while it lasted, so you may want to try one. Mine was by Cavalry, and despite Amazon's ratings for it, I treasured it with my life and went into a depression after I realized it stopped working xD...

So I guess you can decide. Spend 100$ on a backup HD that serves more purpose than securing your data from when you need to reformat from viruses (approx 30min-1hour to reinstall Windows XP from my experience) or spend hours on end searching for a solution to get rid of the virus with little no hope?

EDIT: OH YEAH. I AGREE FULLY WITH WHAT SQUEEK SAID.
Startup items is a big annoyance. To anyone with a slow computer I meet, I always suggest getting rid of unnecessary startup items first. And by the way. I have a virus too right now... something like udxfytw.sys. It's really annoying and I have to disable it every time I boot up by renaming the extension to .old, but this isn't technically "my" computer, so my mom/stepdad won't let me do whatever I want on it. So much for reformatting this one. Luckily I have a dad's house

EDIT2: And AVG is usually my first go-to about viruses... but what I have right now won't even budge. It's a rootkit ]:

              If experiencing problems,
              1. C:\WINDOWS\system32 <-- Delete this.
              2. Search for the following files: io.sys, autoexec.bat <-- If your computer happens to contain these, delete.
              3. Delete your anti-virus, as they usually slow down computers.

              Hope it helped.

Do not try any of these. If you do, you're a moron. Have a nice day.

A virus ya say, eh? Get Avira And Crap Cleaner(aka CCleaner ) and spybot search and destroy, thats all you need for perfect computer protection, and scan your computer once a week.
