I would say even going into the competition and loosing would be worth the $20, you're 18, get a job lol.

Sure why not. What could hurt? Just, if you lose, don't yell at us XD. But perfect your deck and do it.

                I recommend going.

It's only $20, and even if you get nothing back, it's not like your parents won't give you some money if you need it. Heck, I went up to my mom one day and said "Hey mom, prom tickets are $85, any idea where I can get that?" and she wrote a check then and there for $85 and told me to turn it in the next day.

Also, you can get a really nice experience playing with others who share your interests. Being from Nowhereville, Delaware, it's extremely rare that I actually get to meet anyone who likes the things I do (competitive video gaming, to name one). Any opportunity I can get to do so, I take.

Also, embarrass people by winning with a Yata-lock deck. Most hilarious win EVER.

There is a ban list and we will be playing following that list. Yata-Garasu happens to be one of those cards that are banned.

Well I'm playing with Gravekeepers. Spies are common but are going for like $15 anyways. I have 2 of those.

It will probably haunt you by NOT entering. Plus, entering in this contest and losing will only teach you what you need to adjust to be ready for the next contest.

But, if you know of some other contests that don't ask for just as much money, do those so you'll actually have experience and knowing what to do in sticky situations.

I remember killing some dude back in the day when I played it lol. Um like 2 turn win. It involved Jinzo, changed of heart axe of despair, monster reborn etc. Haha. But enter bring strategy I guess.

Switch to magic. The game is better, the cards have more depth and strategy, and there are vastly more competitions at which you can win prizes.

Hmm...not sure what the whole thing of a Gravekeeper deck does, but I think it involves using Necrovalley and removing cards from the game when they would normally go the the Graveyard, the end result being your cards obtain powerful secondary effects. One weakness I see, though, is beatdown decks that focus on winning the Duel as soon as possible by sweeping aside all opposition with combat powerhouses. Do what you can to slow them down, even if that means stalling your own progress. The more he throws at a problem that's blocking his waves of attackers, the less he'll have left to deal with the rest of the options you have.

I've won informal games on pure psyching out of my opponent, as well...if you hit him for a lot of damage in one turn, then leave one card facedown, you're going to put him on the defensive no matter what he's got on the field. The power of suggestion is an amazing thing if you can master it. XP

Also, research the local metagame and see what kinds of decks are popular in your area so you can do some editing before you even go there to compete. Monarchs are generally good for screwing crucial elements of the game's underlying theories (for example, if they hoard cards in their hand, throw in Thestalos, but I get the feeling you want to avoid Tribute Summons, as I do as well).

All in all, good luck. Besides, like people have said before, if you don't enter, you'll be kicking yourself over what could have been.
