A 106 puts you at an 'Average' intelligence level. Nothing to be ashamed of. You'll fit right in with most of the general public. People like Rubix have a need to be smarter than people and show it. It makes them feel superior.

I used to be one of those people as well. I'm a hell of a lot smarter than I let show. Though I feel my posts give away my intelligence :/. (nt typeeng lyke i mash da kybrd wid muh mouf)

I'm now a lot less concerned about it. I just float through life, and hold intelligent conversation with intelligent individuals when I happen across them online. Moderating a science Forum will humble you over the years... People yell at you all the time, expecting you to have the answer to any mathematic, philosophic, or spiritual question that happens across their mind. Kind of frustrating, mostly insightful. I enjoy my time there .

Biggest debate I ever had to deal with so far, I started xP. Don't ever propose you have an idea on how to overcome the laws of physics to create a working perpetual motion device on a science forum. You will be flamed to no end. Apparently most 'intelligent' people are also very stubborn, and believe that the current laws of physics are perfect and there is no exception at all. The second and third laws of thermodynamics were thrown in my face so often I could recite each one word for word for the rest of my life now =.=

Even though you failed high school doesn't make it ok. You're just showing the positives. Do you realize how many people do this that hardly make more than minimum wage? You should be praying to Chuck Norris for getting so lucky. I, however, do NOT plan to follow in your foot steps. What you did was idiotic, arrogant, and foolish. I will pass high school, so that I can say that I graduated high school, but not just barely. I know I won't be the Valedictorian, but I'll be up there. And at least I can say that. You on the other hand, should take night classes and take the courses you failed in over. You'll feel achieved of yourself once you do this. Makes you feel achieved and accomplished.

*If your lucky then you can actually be successful in life without HS diploma.

I'd recommend it too (graduating high school). I wasn't really so much lucky as I was confident. I knew I was smart. The kind of arrogantly smart that made me feel I shouldn't have to try as hard as everybody else.

Amazingly I was right.

That stuff about completing what I failed though is rubbish. I honestly couldn't care less I never completed it. It'll just make me all the more arrogant when I'm making over 100 grand a year, and don't even have a high school diploma.

I'm already taking online classes to get my prerequisites out of the way. I'll start taking night classes once I'm through with them. It's appalling how easy the courses are to get into a Pharmacy Technician position. Makes me feel real confident about the people who are filling my prescription >_>

Sorry, I really felt the need to do this after reading these lines over about 10 times... Here's one of my very own quotes I came up with in the Philosophy subforum at the science site when I was about 15: "There is no meaning to life, and the only purpose in life, is to give life a purpose.". Accomplishing what I failed when I was 16 would only be taking a few steps backwards in life, not one of my purposes, and I could give a damn what society has to say about it. I'm moving forward, and am extremely grateful I was able to not waste my time with trivial BS like that.

I think there's sometimes a time component to these kinds of tests, so even if you get all the questions right you may end up with a non-perfect IQ. But you can't trust sites like this to give you an accurate result. No offense to anyone here, but the fact that nobody's yet got a number under 110 suggests that they're inflating the number to make visitors feel better.

As far as the "mental age" thing - that's supposed to apply to I.Q. for children (where intelligence actually is determined by age) rather than for adults. For some reason adult I.Q.s are typically higher than child I.Q.s, even for the same person. I've heard that the way the more professional I.Q. tests (for adults) work is that they look at your score and put it on the bell curve of the scores they have, and define the IQ as something like 100 plus 15 for each standard deviation your score is above the mean (and -15 for each one it is below).

Yep, that's how adult IQ tests are scored. The test in question is usually tried out on a large sample of people, and the bell curve is derived from the distribution of everyone's scores. The mean IQ is fixed at 100, while the standard deviation is usually 15, 16 or 24, depending on the test. This one seems to have a s.d. of 15.

I've found that at the top end of the curve, a child's IQ can be much higher than an adult's due to the difference in the way IQ is measured. I took an IQ test when I was 7 and got 178, but there's no way I'd get anywhere near that now.

The main problems with online IQ tests are that they're either too short, or they don't differentiate enough at either extreme. Offering a "Complete Personal Intelligence Profile" for a nominal fee is also quite common.

internet IQ test really are not accurate IMO. ive taking lots of them from different sites and my IQ ranges from 110-145 =/

plus after you take a bunch online, they share a few of the same questions XD
