    Should I feel bad?

I recently started playing poker with my manager from work. I'm 17 and he's 24. He's been playing poker a lot longer than me (4 years he claims). Recently we started playing for money and well... I've been kicking his ass.

He's currently $35.00 in debt to me and we have another poker match this Monday.

I keep getting lucky breaks. (multiple 3-of-a-kinds, straight draws, flush draws, etc)

Anyways, I felt a little bad after he lost the last 30 dollar game and he left my house rather quickly.

Should I feel bad for taking the guy's money? =P

It's pocket change, of course not. Add a couple of zero's, and I'd probably get worried.

People who can't take bad beats shouldn't play poker.

People who feel bad for winning also shouldn't play poker.

I play poker because I'm good at it.
I'm just concerned about a good friend of mine.

You could always intentionally lose some money back to him.

They always say if someone's steaming after a bad beat, the best way to cool them down is to have them bluff you out of a hand or scoop a big pot.

All I'm saying is, people who cash in the world series main event typically knock off dozens of players each. 90% of the people who participate walk away with $10,000 out of their pockets and a story to tell, so only 10% of the participants make any profit at all. This means that until the money bubble bursts, everyone you eliminate just lost $10,000. That's just how poker is.

Hah, he'd never fire me. If he did, I wouldn't mind looking for something better than minimum wage... more playing money!

edit: The more I think about your first post, Squeek, maybe I shouldn't be as concerned as I am. "Don't bet what you cannot afford to lose"

Don't worry about it. First off, it's not that much money, but don't let that get you into bad habits. Also, it's his own fault if he's losing to you at Poker. Granted, a lot of the game is luck, but he must be pretty n00by if he's not making the appropriate calls and what not.

If you ask me, you should not be playing poker at your age anyways.

If you win, make sure to act surprised and tell them it's beginner's luck. They'll be more likely to play more.

Man I know so much about poker without actually playing it. I wish I could =(

I guess that's valid. Online poker is doable still (but kinda sucks).
