Which is better? Classic Rock (Led Zeppelin, The Who, etc.) or today's hip-hop (KanYe West, Chris Brown, etc.)?

I know it's not the most compatible. Led Zeppelin vs. Rise Against or DMC vs. KanYe would make more sense...so I guess the question isn't who is better. The question is which would you rather listen to? Classic Rock? Or today's Hip-Hop? (That's TODAY'S hip-hop; DMC, The Beastie Boys, etc. are not in that genre.)

Classic rock is like 70's rock.
Arena rock is like 80's hair metal.

But classic rock is better then anything today.

This is a stupid question.

I might as well ask if you'd rather listen to classic rock or death metal.

Different tastes for different things.

I'd rather listen to whatever bands I like or whoever sounds good rather than constantly having to like particular genres.

I like things from all genres.

That's how I am, but this is just for "I'm right, you're wrong" reasons with my girlfriend. good ol' friendly, loving, competition.

If she prefers hip-hop then that's her opinion and she's perfectly entitled to it.

Unless she is explicitly stating that her genre tastes are better, in which case she has the wrong idea too.

There's no point to prove. Everyone has different tastes, you can't say Genre A > Genre B and vice versa, since they are completely different. I do think you can compare quality within genres though.

Oh, and I think they both suck :]

I'm not saying that either of them is BETTER, just more popular: which one more people listen to.

I understood that.
As to popularity, Hip Hop will logically be much more popular because its more recent. You can't just use FFR as a poll to know which is more popular. It isn't accurate at all. Just look at sales records for that.

Sales records? Currently, the FFR Poll has Classic Rock winning. And as for sales records, Zoso, III, Dark Side of the Moon, and all of the Beatles records blow everything today out of the water. So I'd say they are consistent.

You answered your question by yourself. You don't need us to confirm your thoughts. Basing yourself on facts is much better than basing yourself on a forum poll.
I forgot that some classic rock bands are so famous now they can beat anything, so disregard what I said about being recent.
