    Parkour

Parkour, also know as "free-running," is an awesome sport. It involves adding your own personal style into almost anything you do with it. If you have never heard of it you should just search "free-running" or "parkour" on youtube. The videos are absolutely amazing and make you want to get up and do backflips off of the nearest ledge (unless of course you are like me and don't know how to do backflips).

I just wanted to start this forum to ask anybody on this website if you have ever tried Parkour. Maybe you recorded yourself, or you could put a link of your favorite parkour video here.

It is starting to get very popular, it is even starting to be in the media. If you have seen the most recent James Bond movie there was a big free-running scene, so I'll start this off with an interesting video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7tj3rxug_h0 the video is only a minute long so check it out!

Have not tried it, but I have seen many videos of it. It looks really cool. Also, some of my friends have started practicing it.

                Re: Parkour

Well, I have tried it and wasn't very successful so I decided to stop before I seriously hurt mysel, haha!. If you want to see some fun stuff look up Team Ryouko on YouTube. I'm not exactly sure if their stuff qualifies as parkour, they're actually and XMA group (extreme martial arts) which makes them even more amazing in my opinion =P

Here's a video of them in Toronto, which is where the team is based.

i really would like to get better because i think that it would be awesome to get picked for G4's American Ninja Challenge and travel to Japan to compete in "Ninja Warrior"

                    Re: Parkour

Wow, that's pretty awesome, haha. If you really want you could visit the XMA HQ at 5140 Lankershim Blvd, NOHO ARTS DISTRICT. They have a really amazing facility for learning acrobatics which could come in handy. Of course that's if you live near there although there are other XMA schools that are quite as equipped.

I suggest working on your athleticism and strength. Please don't try to jump of ledges if you're not sure you can do it. Oh, and practice, practice, practice. As Forest Gump would say, "that's all I have to say about that." haha

                      Re: Parkour

I don't get why people suddenly decided to rename basic acrobatics. Give it a new name if it makes you feel good about yourself, but don't pretend it's this amazing new sport. It's not "finally getting popular", it's been popular for thousands of years.

If we're going by this logic, then why do we call Basketball "Basketball" and Lacrosse "Lacrosse" since they was originally made by the Mayans (or some other ancient civilization).
