Re: Arguments in the Forum Domain

We can argue. We're not allowed to flame though (insults, name-calling like you said). That's when it gets out of hand.

Even when there are arguments, to me it's more amusing than anything else, so I think it's fine. btw, well played funmonkey

If there weren't any disagreements, the forums would be extremely dull.

Tokzic, please learn the problem before you type, you've done this before and it just leads to a separate argument about a slightly different topic.

Actually, Flaming_Dingleberry, Tokzic meant if disagreements were civil and mature, they would be extremely dull. You can take not of this paragraph vs my previous one in all caps. One is more mature, but the other is most certainly more entertaining.

Re: Arguments in the Forum Domain

Hmmm, it's difficult enough for some people even to stay on topic. They are legendary for being trolls or are just plain annoying. As far as I'm concerned, debates and such (even flames) should be allowed in the DISCUSSIONS section of the forum alone. That is where opinions and points are made. Some are just too stupid or too hardheaded to understand a language without flames or profanity. Internet just works that way.

So what would you propose go in the sections where discussions were not allowed?

And some people who will go unkown in this post, tend to cause problems. They argue all the time. Some say this is just the way of man. I think it gets a little out of hand sometimes.

we do what we can to keep it to a minimum, but to rid it altogether is an eunrealistic expectation and would drive away more users than the current system does.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and state that in addition to punishments being lax, deliverance of said punishments are lax as well. I don't think I've ever been banned for flaming or trolling, and the most I ever got was Chardish or somebody locking a thread and saying "stop trolling".

Also note that some people mistake heated debates for bickering arguments. A reasonably worded post is never bad, even if it is enthralled in a very heated debate. It only becomes a problem when people throw basic rules out the window and start attacking the debater rather than their arguments. And since, as was already pointed out, forums in general are perused mostly by teenage males, of whom are mostly retarded, things tend to fall apart quickly.

Why should all people have to get along all the time? If you're looking for a pacifist community - you've got the wrong place. I enjoy the arguments on FFR; they entertain me because they're so stupid.
