Something tells me this is nothing but a cheap cash plan in to prey off the wallets of Weeabos.

Actually, the apparent teaser poster news only just broke a few days back or so.

Not like it matters. It's just a poster with some lightning and a Dragonball.

Anyway, I doubt if there will be much more anime based films if Speed Racer and Dragonball do poorly. It's not like we're going to be looking towards a 2010 release of Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie starring Dylan and Cole Sprouse, or Trigun starring Johnny Yong Bosch. Actually, ****ing A, I would totally pay to see those. The surreality of it would totally make up for the potential blasphemy.

I disagree with most of you in here. I think most of the weeaboos will stay away. I think if you tell most anime fans this they will be appalled.

The majority of people seeing these films will be you guys who have never seen GitS or Akira.

I will always judge these films next to the Original. Same with films from books or cartoons or whatever. The original is always my expectation, I don't care if it's an "adaptation", if it doesn't come up to the level then it's failed in my eyes.

I really don't think they can capture anime in a live-action movie.....why would you want to make an anime show into a movie anyway? They're very boring.

              Hey, you editted your post.

Anyway, Japanese people have adapted tons of anime into live-action series' or films already, and they sucked. I guess it's because they're low budget films. I recently watched Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, the live-action version of the original Sailor Moon and it pissed me off because it did not follow the original storyline ALL throughout the series.... but it was rather enjoyable, despite it being a "twist" on the original. It made me happy, sad, and angry at the same time. Pretty weird.

I don't expect American filmmakers to do that though. The movies are either going to suck really bad to the point where the "twist" just isn't enjoyable, or they're going to be pretty damn good. Either way, I really can't wait to watch them.

Yes I thought mabye it was a bit harsh so I changed it....I watched some anime movies (Akira, Steam Boy...that's about it) and like them so whatever. But the anime shows I can't stand. Look at Speed Racer.....Hollywood is alyways going to add a twist and make it way to over the top. I doubt that American filmmakers will be truthful to the storylines, they'll change most of it and try to make it look good. Hollywood is running out of ideas...

Which is why they're taking anime shows and adapting them into live-action films with a Western twist to them? x]

Yeah.....can't they get their own idea's though? Oh at least have a Japanese director make an anime movie in hollywood with a huge budget.

Japanese people are always influenced by Western culture though.

The only amazing Japanese movie director that I know of is Miyazaki Hayao, but his films are animated. Not sure if it'd be that easy to find a director that great to hire in Hollywood and direct live-action films.

omg harry potter and the sorcerer's stone cut out the potion test at the end

omfg also they changed the title to "sorcerer's stone" from "philosopher's stone", holy **** what a failure

I love this idea, because frankly, it goes both ways. Also, notice that the art form so many weeaboo pieces of **** love only came about because of western art styles. I personally think it's HILARIOUS that if not for America, Japan might still be doing art like this:

ps why are people stil saying "anime wouldnt translate well to live action", because I already pointed out that many anime are based on a REALISTIC ART STYLE (particularly the ones mentioned here), meaning that they WOULD translate well to live action, assuming good acting, writing, directing, etc.

I'm just very glad that they chose to take a risk on more mature animes rather than producing horrible 4kids quality animes that are sure to make money.

                            uh uh uh

I'm pretty sure Dragon Ball Z and Speed Racer were both cut up and poorly "translated", too. Dragon Ball Z even had SOME stupid 4kids-ish things such as removing blood, or referring to a farmer's shotgun as a "peashooter", although those instances laxed a lot after the 3rd season started since they were no longer in syndication and was only airing on Toonami.

Just like video game movies, everyone gets hyped up and can't wait for it to be released, just for it to suck horribly.
