    Oh, kids these days.

They'll just never understand that adults use the interwebs.

Ugh, what a bunch of imbeciles.
When you put something on the internet, other people can see it too!
And if you're gonna break the law, you don't brag about it on a social website.

Yes, I agree, it totally is. But underage drinking is against the law, and a lot of our "rights" don't include people under 18.

I will never understand how a school can get involved with events that are happening off of school grounds.

Teachers get bored...and feel like being real asses and going "hmmm how may I ruin a students life today *goes to facebook and/or myspace*"...I on the other hand, don't have a stupid myspace...(well i do but I didn't make it, I do very much hate my friends sometimes) and no facebook, course that I know of. Ehhh, I say if they're not hurting nor killing or stealing, let'em be, I'm sure those same law abiding citizens did the same thing when they were young. Course it was back in "their" day and they didn't "know" any better ^.^! Course if I still condoned in illegal activities maybe I'd be more for the "offenders" sake, but I side with no one really. Yeah it was dumb of the kid to post it, and I kinda think it's wrong for a school to go out of it's way to prosecute them. The way I see this is; if the kid was a total drunk, and was always screwing around, and there was cause for concern; then I'd see it as fine. However, from what I read, doesn't seem like he was a trouble maker.

Wow shadowlessheart doesn't know what the **** he's talking about.

Rubin, teachers know everything. Someone in the teenage "circle" always talks. Always. They think they're being clever and sneaky, and no old fogie teacher will pick up on what they're saying, but they're wrong. Schools find out, one way or another.

                Re: Oh, kids these days.

I'm surprised that this hasn't happened with a friend of mine.

The story involves Canada. Maybe that's why the police don't care.

P.S. teachers aren't stupid. They were kids, too. And a lot of your teachers grew up in the 60's so they definitely know you guys do drugs. And they can find out. Just don't be stupid. Don't advertise your drug use, and you're unlikely to get caught. Make it obvious, and you're riding on thin ice.

BTW I have two teachers friended on Facebook!

Three including teachers and assistant teachers that have never been mine (hi Amanda!).

Teachers practically are required to be able to figure out the majority of their students' lives. At least the good ones. Every teacher I've ever had could figure things out about me quicker than even my own parents and a lot of them know things my own family and friends do not, simply because they have that odd ability. Often times, at least from my experience, these teachers can help prevent a lot of things from happening from their students that would affect their lives negatively. Teachers r kewl liek dat.

No I understand HOW they get involved. I just don't understand why. A school's responsibility is to educate students and protect them when they are on school property. What happens outside of that should be the concern of their parents and family. I understand if a school wants to protect its students, but to get authorities involved seems excessive. Especially when it has nothing to do with the school.

My mother is a principal of a school. In fact, the large majority of my family works in education. I can't imagine her overhearing students talking about a crazy weekend and calling the cops. Even if she saw pictures...as long as there was no imminent danger I don't understand how it's anyone's business but the parents'. At most, contact the parents and wash your hands of the situation.

My extended study teacher always tells us to not smoke pot or touch people over the weekend after the bell rings on Friday's. >_>

Teachers know a lot. Kids are just stupid. I never say anything, and I never expose myself really, because I know people are going to see the things I've done. If kids do stupid crap in their own time, then let them. If they're stupid enough to talk about it in front of an adult, then they deserve punishment.

Why in the hell would you post pictures of yourself doing something illegal on the internet? That's just plain stupid.
It's like that one commercial, once you post pictures on the internet, EVERYONE has access to it and you don't even know who's looking.

Wait, how did they know it was alcohol just based on photos? What if it was just orange juice in alcoholic bottles? :\

Oh, I feel like my responsibility goes way beyond that.

I'm not saying I'm going to go out of my way to get students in trouble, but I will still report illegal activity if I know it's going on.

This could also fall under abuse, which schools are required by law to report, if parents knowingly supplied the alcohol.

Edit: Also, this is just like the people who get arrested for posting videos of their kids smoking pot on youtube -- the authorities don't go looking for stuff like that, people tip them off.
