Actually, he doesn't. He loses everything from after the restore point, but the whole point of a restore point is to keep a record of what the files on the computer are like so that he can flash back to it at any point.

He'd probably lose some things like Word documents, but all his settings and stuff would remain intact. A heck of a lot better a solution than a total drive wipe, if he can avoid it.

He can make a backup of his documents with a Linux LiveCD like Knoppix or Ubuntu and K3b.

No, when that thing came up that said Windows cannot open file, I selected use Interner to search for file extension. And it worked. But Internet is the onlly thing that works on my ****ty compy right now.
