    This is getting rediculous

Between the ages of 4-12 I've been gaming hardcore. Yes I was an addict but since then I game casually with the odd time where I will spend a day inside. Over the winter break I got an x-box 360. I have been playing that more than my usual gaming habits entail but I'm still going outside and hanging out with friends. I have WoW which I do 2 heroics a week and 1 Kara run per month (22 hours for an entire month). With that my total gaming per month is about 30-40 hours. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week. Turns out according to my parents "I am a gaming ADDICT".

Today since my dad got home I have been bombarded with "YOU ARE A GAMING ADDICT". When he gets home he looks at me alarmingly and hands me a sheet of paper. "How do you tell if YOUR child is a gaming addict"
    Does your child:
    - Own his own computer
    - Neglect Personal Hygiene
    - Fantasy life on-line replaces emotional life with a partner
    - Can't control computer or video game use
    - May incur large phone or credit bills for on-line services
    - Experiences video game: Withdrawal, anger, or depression when not on the computer or involved with their video game
    - Lying about computer or video game use
    - Overweight
    The list goes ooooonnnnn
He managed to bend each symptom to fit with me. Neglect personal Hygiene, I need a new toothbrush because mine "has it's bristles worn out". Lying about computer or video game use: I go over to my friends house to play games without informing my parents I am playing games at their house.

I have no idea what to do...they even take commercials with 9 year olds in a sonta talking about pace makers and kids in motorized chairs unable to make it to dances due to a triple bypass literally. For the love of god somebody help me.

I once told my dad "Get some ****ing anger managment". He then swiftly pushed me to the floor and left for work.

I honestly think he just needs to stop working 20 hours a day and he would be fine...really though all I need is a good argument to get out of this mess. My parents are going to call in professional help in a month if I don't "improve". I think they're just total noobs...meaning they're still living in the 70's and think I should be going to more disco's ect.

You know what? Let them look into professional help. Let that "professional help" prove them wrong.

That is such an awesome idea with so many hilarious possibilities that I may record this lol
This could be turned into a sitcom episode

In all seriousness, I think you should show your parents that you can stay away from gaming for a few days.

Also, you could try to anticipate a moment when they're about to "check up on you", and quickly open a mathbook or some sort of textbook.

Shipping yourself to Oklahoma might be your final choice, if nothing else works.

I like the suggestion where you probe them wrong. Let them play their little game, and prove that there is nothing wrong with you. Your dad sounds like a psychopath for some reason, although I do not think he is one. If you have a girlfriend, you can always tell them that true video game addicts do not have a girlfriend, etc.

Worst comes to worst, burn the newspapers as soon as they arrive. Then the media can't influence your parents anymore.
                  Note to self Finish.

I'd still wait until his parents seek help. If they still think that he's a "video game addict" then they deserve to be shot in the leg IMO.

Holy ****. Your parents need to calm down, I get 20 to 30 hours of gamplay a month (and I cant play on weekdays so I play maybe 4-5 hours on weekends). Im a gamer my parents dont say anything, hell my dad even plays COD4 and Halo3 with me when he has spare time (he's such a noob lol). Your parents need to lighten up, tell them that its 2008 not 1973, games wont hurt.

do me a favor, sign on aim, get your parent to im me, i want to talk to them, about how your not addicted, my average single day, consumes of 12ish hours on ffr/sm (prob more), and when im not on this, im on xbox, my average WEEK, is 75+ hours of games/computers.

im probably just chronically addicted or something =/
not that i even see that as a problem, i still see my friends and family and do other things.
my weight is perfectly fine, 110ish and 5'6-5'7ish

own my own comp: yes, but who doesnt now in recent times?
neglect personal hygiene: ew i take 1 or 2 showers a day, i hate not being clean.
fantasy life on-line replaces emotional life with a parter: not quite sure, but i really dont find that much of a need for a girl friend at 16 that im just gonna break up with eventually anyway, all though i do like this one.
cant control computer or video game use: i dont know, i havent tried to take a break really, never had a reason.
may incur large phone or credit bills for online services: my highest phone bill was $37, and i dont use my parents credit cards for anything at all other than xbox(which is only $50 a year and i dont purchase microsoft points with theyre credit card, i go to gamestop and buy a card with actually money, and i only did that twice).
experiences video game: withdrawal, anger, or depression when not on the computer or involved in their video game: not gonna lie, i do have anger problems, but thats not from games, my dad is the only one that pisses me off, cause he's a complete drunk, huge jerk, the rest of my family is ok, but theyre very selfish, i still luff them <3
lying about computer or video game use: i have no reason to lie about it, im damn proud of being a gamer.
overweight: all went over this, hell no.

THAT LIST IS COMPLETE BS ABOUT BEING ADDICTED.
average time on pc/games a week, thats the only question really needed xD
but for something like warcraft, raids usually take a long time, and thats not your fault.
