So I just got into a verbal tussel with a telemarketer that just called the house and man am I amped now. I love messing with telemarketers.
My parents just switched our phone service so Sprint has been calling the house about five times a day without leaving a message. My parents don't answer numbers they don't know so after being awaken by these pricks the past few days and having my work being interrupted by phone calls numerous times today, I answered the fifth call they placed today within six hours. A gentleman asks for my father, and I tell him he's not available and ask if I can leave a message. He says a message isn't necessary and I reply by saying if this isn't important enough to leave a message, please stop calling, this is the fifth time you've called today. The telemarketer goes on to say only the person in charge of phone bill can authorize a do-not-call and I tell him that we're not interested in whatever he is selling, please stop calling. His response is laughably awesome - I'm not trying to sell you something, I'm trying to save you on your monthly phone bill. I call him a liar and repeat not to call again. He states he can accept a do not call from me. I then ask him if he can accept one from the police (even though the police won't do anything in a case like this - my parents did prior business with them so legally they do have a right to contact us for follow-up service - the word police always ruffles people up and this rate I was hoping for a rebutal argument and a good intellectual fight). After that he says all of his company's information in one breath and hangs up.
I was sad that I didn't get a good fight out of him but I'm happy to say it's been three hours since that phone call and the phone hasn't rang once. Peace and quiet finally. Do you have any good telemarketer stories?
