People like this really need...food poisoning. Know what? Take your stupid website, take your CD's on self-help, break them in half, then use the broken pieces to slit your wrists. Nobody wants these people around. It's just like that kid Shawn Wooley, who committed suicide after his online girlfriend broke up with him...seriously! What in all hell would prompt these people to blatantly proclaim "I have lost all forms of social interaction and I don't care who knows it"?

Sorry for double post...here's my email I sent to them (notice I actually tried to be intelligent, though I wanted to tell them they were spewing so much crap they reminded me of tubgirl).

Listen, whatever your want to believe, I'm fine with that. I understand you can't change beliefs. However, the way you're going about doing it is stupid and wrong. People like you who follow in the footsteps of Joe Lieberman don't understand, and don't try to understand the subject of videogames. Around the 20th century, when movies were invented, people laughed or didn't understand the full potential of the medium. History tends to repeat itself, only in more...blatant...ways, through people like you. Let's take a look at some of your facts:

"Fact: Videogames have been proven to prevent the development of the proper social skills and interaction needed for a long happy and enjoyable life. Young gamers are prone to being burdened with depression and sadness all throughout their life."

This is a fact, is it? I want hard data. I play videogames quite often, and I'm quite popular. I have a lot of friends who play videogames, they're popular too. And none of them are burdened with depression or sadness beyond the normal teenage scope. Let me ask you this- games are fun. Kids play games to relax and escape. Why would you connect that to depression, of all things? Did you read what you were writing before you decided to create a website devoted to possibly the worst use of bandwidth EVER?

"Fact: Health studies have found that even those casual gamers suffer from low self-esteem and self-pride compared to their athletic and more socially accepted peers in their same age group. Young gamers were found to be more likely to become lifetime gaming addicts and becoming social outcasts."

I don't think I've ever heard a bigger load of crap. Most of the kids in my school play games on a semi-regular basis, and very few are social outcasts- in fact, a few who are social outcasts are simply because they do not play games, and feel the same way you do.

"Fact: Hardcore gaming not only leads to videogame addiction and abrupt lifestyle changes, but to crime and felony as well. Hardcore gamers never buy computer videogames. Instead, downloading illegally copied videogames or ?warez? is the only method acceptable by the underground. Buying a legit copy is grounds for abandonment by community groups. You may not be buying your child videogames, but they can illegally obtain them off the internet."

Now we go into filesharing? I might be wrong, but I think P2P networks are not included in the 'videogame' catagory. Not all people download EVERYTHING, you know. First off, most of the people I know download stuff, NOT JUST HARDCORE GAMERS. I love how you seem to stick everything 'bad' in the 'hardcore gamer' catagory. Second, lots of people actually do buy the games. Like, you know, me, my friends, and most kids I know. Downloading an entire game off the internet is hard, because to find a user and download the entire thing can take days, but beyond that the risk of spyware and viruses is so high that most people I know don't bother. I am a hardcore gamer, and so are my friends, and not one of us has EVER downloaded an illegal game. Oh, but that's right, you didn't think before writing out this insane missive.

        "Symptom: Poor school grades
A typical report card by a troubled videogame player:
        Computer Education Excellent
        English Poor
        Mathematics Poor
        Science Poor
        Social Studies
        Poor
        Physical Education Poor"

What, as soon as you turn on the power switch your I.Q. drops 20 points? I'm getting a 3.5 average right now. None of my friends have anything worse than 3.0, and several of them are getting near straight As. How the HELL did you come up with those statistics? Again, that whole 'not thinking' thing seems to be showing up...seems to me like you're having more symptoms than the gamers you're protesting against.

"Danger: Do videogames make people violent?
Yes. What was once a debatable question, is now fact. New research has concluded that videogame violence and behavior related violence are in fact closely related."

Really now? Is that so? Well, after reading that and your 'Videogames DO teach people how to kill' paragraph, I think I'll stop playing games for fear of murdering someone. Give me a break. Yeah, I play First Person Shooters, so I know how to fire an automatic shotgun. And, I'm so multitalented, since I play flight simulators I can also fly a Concorde!

If you provided hard data and research I might listen. Doubtful, but I might. But all you've proven is that you have no research skills, you're throwing wave after wave of crap with no evidence to back it up, and if this was entered in any tangible legislation office you'd be laughed out of it so fast you'd swear you just played Counter-Strike.

By the way, I'm not accepting any replies to this e-mail, so don't bother responding. Just think about what I said...most specifically those 'your research is crap' parts. Be lucky you don't get sued for slander, as there's about as much truth in your website as Saddam has in his 'we have no weapons' statements.
