    How much did you pay for your computer?
    Of course, since you play WoW, money probably isn't a problem...
    I have paid less than 550$ on mine, and I have:

    17'' LCD flat,
    2 gig RAM,
    3.0GHZ processor Pentium 4
    512 ATi Radeon Sapphire x1650 Dual
    Full surround sound
    Can burn/copy DVD's or CDs
    Windows XP Home Media Center Edition
    200 Gig Hard drive

    We are planning on upgrading RAM soon.
    We also have some neat AND legal DVDXCOPY software which came free.

    I can run Oblivion and any Source-based game on FULL FULL FULL.

    By the way, I bought it 2 years ago.

        Sounds pretty nice Kills my laptop, though, but it does what I need it to.

        Gateway (not sure of the model number)
        2.0ghz dual core (@667mhz if you were wondering)
        2 gb RAM (667mhz also)
        60gb hd (7200 rpm)
        256mb nvidia 7900 go graphics card
        17" widescreen monitor
        windows xp pro (yay)

        It's plenty fast for me. Much more would be overkill I guess.

        Only downside was the price ($2,100) Would have been a lot less if I had bought it the day before. Oh well.
        Funny stuff goes in this area right?

            I would say that compute is perfect actually. It's not too overkill, and it's not ****ty.

            Vista. Vista is by far the worst OS in existence. Sorry to say but that thing was fully hacked and translated into Chinese 5 days after the BETA release. As well pretty much no good programs work on it, and the ones that HAVE been upgraded to allow use all suck as well.

            Vista is a computer for old people, OR people who need an extremely easy to use OS. Vista basically can't be customized at all... in the scripting area.

                You have said this before and I will say now what I did then:

                That is the beta release, and it is not representative of the final version.

                The security in the final version of Vista has done better than any other program in its day. Go check it out on Tom's Hardware.

                And ah, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Read about Vista a little more before I go on a rant and make you look stupid.

                    One of my guy friends from school told me he would build me a computer for free if I bought the parts. Unfortunately, I REALLY need a laptop (for gaming as well) instead of a desktop. It just doesn't make sense to get a new laptop and a new desktop for college. I can't afford it. Alienware is one of the only sites that makes pretty decent laptops and lets you choose between XP and Vista.

                    aka I need a laptop that will basically run any game I want to because once I get it I'm prob gonna try a lot of ****, so if anyone has some suggestions or wants to build that for me and post it here, be my guest

                        Whoa, whoa, whoa. First off, Alienware is extremely expensive. It's not worth it.

                        Second, laptops are different now. You can build your own laptop as easily as you can build a desktop computer. Start with the screen/chassis, and then work from there. There are a surprising amount of options for customizing a laptop. The best options even allow for two 7900GTX cards in a SLI configuration.

                                The guy doesn't know how to build a laptop =( I have no experience with buildling anything computer-wise, so I wouldn't have a clue how to do it.

                                    If he knows how to build a desktop, all he has to do is spend a few minutes reading up and he'll know everything he needs to know. There's so many DIY guides out there, and anyone experienced with desktop should be able to build a laptop pretty easy with instructions.

                                    Either way, companies like Alienware and Falcon-Northwest are extremely expensive for what they're giving you. There was a PC that I customized on Alienware's website that I can build myself for $5000 less. They want to charge me $5000 for the fact that their cases have the Alienware logo and they warranty their system. For that price, I could replace the processor five times over if it died on me.
