    Re: Emo Vs Hip-hop.

I simply dislike the stereotype, and sadly, it does exist for a resaon... there are quite a few bleeding-heart whiners out there.

And while the word "emo" is derived from the word "emotional", the two have almost no connection. Blues is emotional, are you about to call that emo too?! Emo is a specific genre; it doesn't mean emotional anymore.

I know tons of "emo" kids and most of them have never even attempted cutting. I know tons of preps too though, and I can give you the names of 20 that have tried "cutting" themselves because their life is so "bad". And why are you guys going to rip on someone for what they chose to wear or look like? "oh those chick pant wearing, make-up wearing, long hair flipping emo douche bags." I mean, what the hell? Let someone wear what they want to wear, how is it affecting you in any way?

      ?grow your hair out?

I grow my hair out to what people believe is long (for Florida, anyway) and im not punk, gansta, emo, and I dont bitch about how bad I got it. look at my post history: lots of typos, lots of dumb post about something already said and lost of post telling people to shut up. Didnt see any bitching there..

Funny, you stereotyped my hair in a post about not stereotyping

      ALSO
By having more people in music vids dress "emo"...that is, pale face paint, tight black jeans, and striaght black hair (not so much long in my area) they encourege people to act like that and cut themselves. IN MY AREA THESE BRAINLESS WANNA EMOS ARE STARTING TO POP UP LIKE GRASS. DONT TELL ME THEY'RE NOT THERE CUZ AT LEAST HERE THEY ARE.

      thank you

EDIT: didnt see OrganisM's post, he summed it up pretty well.

I was being 100% ironic and speaking from what other people define as emo if you read everything I wrote. I wasn't stereotyping anyone in any way shape or form.

That's what bothers me. How is following the most popular current trend being different? Surely it's the opposite.

              Re: Emo Vs Hip-hop.

it depends on where you....i go to a school where everyone is basically "gansta"....i actually talked to a girl in the locker room and she was afraid to let people know that she listen to fall out boy because her friends would make fun of her.....but on the other side of my county if you don't listen to fall out boy you should get beat up in a dark alley somewhere.....so rele it just depends on where you live

the thing about emo being emotional music is totally stupid because almost all music has emotion in it emotionally could mean being really happy and not just really sad....even rap is emotional...for example "pimpin all over the world" expresses the emotion that those artists singing (aka talking to the beat) really want to be a pimp and like having a lot of money....they expressed there emotions of love towards "pimpin"

I have a friend, right? And shes "emo" as she says. but one day people said she was just a imatation of a emo person and they said that EMO is when you slit ur wrists and hope to die....so later on that night she kinda attempted that and ended up in the hospital...I dont understand why ppl are thinking its cooler then hip hop peeps and all...it makes no sense...>_< I hate when the world changes

I think both suck. 80's is where it is at.
                  Techno is pretty cool.

While there are plenty of novel songs that everyone loves that came from the 80's, overall, the 80's were considered the worst decade in music history...and held that title until the 90's concluded.
