Disk Drive HELP!

My CD Drive, will not recognize blank CDs/CD-R's.

Ive tried many brands.

My Laptop is a: IBM Thinkpad R40, 512 MB RAM, 32 GB HDD, Ati Radeon 7500 MOBILITY 32 MB Videocard.

When I put a CD-R or a CD-RW in my CD Drive, and double click the icon in my computer, it says: "There is no CD in Drive D".

Think ya could help me out?

lol you need to put blank CD's into a DVD drive, not a CD drive

at least that's the case with me

If I understand your situation, you need to get a CD-RW drive. You can't put anything onto blank CDs with a CD-R drive.

Dude, I've put blank CD's into my brothers CD drive. It worked.

Your brother, whom I assume is Russian, does in fact own a CD-RW drive, or a DVD-RW drive

it's in no way a CD-R drive, as AFB mentioned.

Sorry... That really isn't possible. Your brothers CD drive had to be a CD-RW drive, or DVD-RW drive.

Are these blank CDs fresh out of the box that you want to put content on, like music and stuff?

Or are they copied CDs/Backups?

Maybe you could let us know what you're trying to do?

I'm still not sure if you're trying to play something off of a burned CD, or if you're trying to record stuff to a blank CD.

Also, I have another question,
I have 700 MB CD-R's, but the thing Im trying to get on the disk, is like 730 MB. Is there anyway, to get some extra space out of the disk?

Also, I heard they make 1GB CD-R's, is that true?

They are called HD CD's [high density] though I have never used/seen one before .
