No point. DVD's are comparitively cheap and hold 4gb.
You can't have extra space on the CD. If you are talking about music, you can't. If it's just data, try compressing it if you already haven't.
For future reference: CD ROM drives can read complete CD's. CD ROM can't recognize a blank CD-R or CD-RW. DVD-RW recognizes everything (sans blu-ray DVD-HD but thats beside the point.
