Re: who thought getting into college would **** stuff up
Well 98% of the students who graduate the program get a job right out of college. You're required to get an internship while you are in the program, and the AVERAGE (read: half of the people get paid MORE than this) salary out of college for students who graduate the program is $56,000. And theres nowhere to go but up from there.
Maryland has a computer security program, however it would be a toss up between whether I do that or whether I try to major in criminal justice, which has always been an interest of mine. I've always wanted to go into law enforcement or computers, and that's why the SRA program at PSU really appeals to me: it's a combination of the two and gives me a chance to hopefully get a job at the FBI. However, Maryland has the #1 Criminal Justice program in the country, and that's definitely a viable option for me.
The main problem that I have is that I want to be happy with what I do. If I go through the SRA program and find that I don't like it, then I'd be stuck doing something that I don't like for the rest of my life. That's not really the way that I want to live, you know?
Theres also the financial situation: my parents said they'd pay for whatever college I go to but I have two younger brothers and I told them that I wasn't going to make them pay for ALL of PSU because that's not fair to them or my brothers. Meanwhile, they can easily pay for Maryland and my father's offer to write me a check for $10,000 guarantees me spending money for a while, which is something that is definitely needed in college.
I'm visiting Maryland on March 30th (maybe once before then to depending if I visit it with my friend or not) then travelling up to PSU on April 3rd-4th to visit Penn State. Then I have a really hard decision to make... and I'm already stressing over it now.
