    Help me with my Computer

My computer has been lagging ALOT. It takes literally 5 minutes to get out of hibernation and about 12 mins to start up. Its a Dell laptop, Windows XP Home Edition, Intel Celeron, and 504MB of RAM.

I think the problem is with my processors. I'm almost sure that many of them are spywere and such garbage such as DAgnt.exe and BCMWLTRY.EXE. I have 55 processors and I want to get rid of all the problematic ones.

I don't want to system restore because I have a lot of stuff going on around my computer so I might do that over march reak. It all started this morning.

So does anyone have any ideas on how to fix my computer or a database of hurtfull processors?

    EDIT: I have Nortons

    EDIT: ALSO I JUST REMEMBERED!
About 3 times a day my computer tells me that a hack attack was blocked with HIGH RISK!!!

Also, you may want to go into, processes using a run command.
        (I forget the command)
But, it lists all the process, that auto start up, and you can disable some that seem suspicious. Also, any processes with a BLANK name, are malicious.

Run msconfig and go to the startup tab and uncheck anything that isn't familiar to you or just uncheck everything.

My dad trusts Spysweeper. It's not much, just small-change to get the program.

From what I've seen it works really well.

Search their names on google. The results will tell you if its malicious or not.
Also, if the process is blank, it is malicious.

That "Hack Attack", is a virus, that is called a "Hoax". If it asks you to download or pay to fix something, its a trojan, or a worm.

Re: Help me with my Computer

Yea, the less processes on startup, the faster the computer will startup, as it doesnt have to load as many things.

Also to speed things up a little bit, Clear your auto generated backups (except the last one).

                          How to:
                          Once in "My Computer"
                          Right click your Harddrive
                          Select "Properties"
                          Click the "Disk Cleanup" Button
                          Once everything loads/scans
Click the "More Options" tab, and you, should see a thing called:
System Restore, under that there should be a button that says "Clean Up"

Also, while on the "Disk Cleanup" tab, try compressing old unused files, and delete TEMP internet files and such.

FYI my comp is clean of that stuff...i will never look at that stuff (since the instance where i was invited to a friends house where i walked in the door, sent upstairs then opened his room door only to find...masjabratness :'( SCARRED)...exept for that crazed guy who posted pr0n yesterday..."__shasrinsko" I think on that "shashinsko: ***" thread. I only got a short look cause i slammed my laptop screen down the second i saw a vagina....never the less i liked that short look lol
