i am ambidextrous and can play with my left handed fairly well considering i've maybe spent 5 hours total with it. i'm only good at streams. almost as good as my right hand . could probably get a high B on strangeprogram if i tried

Re: Left handed = better at FFR?

my dominant hand is the left, yet i use the mouse, unlock my locker and play FFR with my right. i don't know why. an explanation might be the fact that the rest of my family is right handed, and i got accustomed to using a right handed mouse

anyway, i've actually been playing for probably 1 1/2-2 years (i just joined a few months ago), and the best i can do is Challenging

I'm left-handed and started about 3 months ago.

I also play piano, if that adds any more info.

Additionally, my left-handed friend also caught on to FFR fairly quickly...

Re: Left handed = better at FFR?

I'm a lefty, and I never got REALLY good at SM. Better than the average person just because the average person sucks complete ass, but nowhere near average compared to most people here. Here I suck pretty hard, but compared to some I'm awesome.

the right hemisphere of your brain controls a majority of the left side of your body, that hemisphere is also the creative side, which is said to excel at hand eye coordination based sports.
These games are much less about hand-eye coordination than they are about rhythm and timing. Hand-eye coordination will only get you so far, but try playing the game muted. The majority of the precision of the best players is in listening to the music, not in watching areas. That's why anybody who is decent can play with vanishing arrows and not be bothered by them. I don't hit the arrows based on when it hits the top of the screen, I hit them based on when I hear (or expect to hear, really) the notes in the song.

If there is ANY correlation between handedness and ability at FFR, I'd say it's more of a left-handers are more likely to be nerds thing and not a left-handers are innately good at FFR. Especially from some of the people (and the amount compared to average) here that have said they're left handed, I'd say it seems that left handed people tend to be nerdier. People who play a lot more games will do much better at DDR/FFR than non-gamers just because of their experience with games and will be able to pick up on things faster. I'd say I (and other nerdy kids) pick up on new games and control schemes much more easily than your standard non-nerdy person.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

People always say left handed people are supposed to have better imaginations and hand-eye coordination. Those are total nerd traits. I've always felt that nerdy, gamer type people were more likely to be left handed.

Seems to me like the first people to answer in this thread were lefties more often than is usual. This would support what I've said. Also, the people who are lefties supports it too, since some of the nerdiest little bastards we have on this site are left-handed. =P

Anywho, weird thing I just remembered: When playing one-handed, I'm better with my right because I've spent so many years using the mouse and arrow keys with my right. There are lots of things I do with my right hand only or either hand (depending on the situation), and I'd say using computers most of my life is a big part of why.

I'm left-handed, and I've been playing for 1.68 years. However, when I first made a username, I wasn't really into FFR until the past summer. Before it was all BS-ing. It wasn't until a little more than six months ago before I actually tried, and got decent pretty quick.

                          --Edit

I've been playing for piano for 13.75 years of my life. And I think it definitely helped. I play other instruments too, but that one has been the longest.

Warning: User who is nonproficient with his native language in the post above me.

I've always played two-handed when I get serious, though I have experimented with one hand 3 finger with both left and right hands (I actually ended up AAAing Dance 2 This with my dominant right hand during one of these just-messing-around episodes), and even tried playing with the mouse at one point. But a spread player I am and a spread player I will remain, albeit a mediocre one.

(For those of you who don't know, it's possible, though extremely difficult, to play R1 by clicking the targets when the arrows reach them.)
