Right hand is dominant, and I've been playing FFR for about 1 year and 7 months, and I've been playing Stepmania for about one month. I'd say I'm pretty good, maybe above average.

Im left handed. Been a member for 1.33 years. But about 6 months of that I stop playing. I'd say im not bad. I can FC some master/guru songs.

Right handed. About 3.5 years.

Reached peak skill at stepmania about a year after playing though. Took probably about 6 months to become (at the time, the somewhat controversial >.>) the best in the world.

And I havn't played seriously in quite a few months.



I don't think handedness is going to have anything to do with skill at ffr. You use both of your hands. If anything it's going to have to do with the strength of your corpus callosum and cerebellum. Especially corpus callosum. You do realize that there is information going to both hemispheres of the brain while playing ffr and they're both processing information?

If you cut the corpus callosum, then your theory might hold up somewhat but no, it's not going to in any normal person. (and actually it probably wouldn't matter either way. you'd probably suck hard at ffr without it).

Some MRI scans could probably be used to correlate formation of those structures to skill at ffr...probably not by much though.

left handed. playing stepmania/ffr about 1 year altogether. i do fairly well on the really hard songs. i use my left index and middle finger, and my right index so i use my left alot more. if thats worth anything.

My right hand is better for me. Faster and it's just way better than my left, that's why if I play spread on some songs I get boos from my left hand just not being good. Only my index on my left is any good for me.
Been playing since March of 2005 I think, and 3-finger still.

yes you have information flowing through both parts of the brain while playing, and thats not what im trying to get at, its not a controll issue, its whether or not the right side of the brain tends to "understand" the music and just naturally be slightly better.

we actually did the study in class today, where everyone got to play ffr lol, no one had played before, and 6 people in the class were left handed (out of 31)
and the top 4 scores came from the left handers xD

I am right handed. I started out with one hand and now I play spread. I've been a member for .21 years and as of now rank 314. I'd say major improvement on my part.

right handed, have only been playing seriously for the last year or so (quit before that for year and a half, and only peat 1 hand 3 fingers before hand for 6 months or so).

Just an idea on why shash got so good fast is that he was incredibly good at tetris before.
May have no correlation but if it does I would assume that the reflexes that he aquired from tetris would have helped tons.
