    Re: Desperate Situation...

Another thing to throw in there I guess... Let's say you do manage to get the money to see her... You go there for a week or whatever, have tons of sex, do whatever tickles your fancy... But somewhere inside of you there is that feeling that you're just going to be back home, feeling all depressed because you're not in the same place as her, in like a week... So basically after all your efforts to raise money for this trip, you'll just enjoy it for a week, and then end up being depressed for a hell of a long time, and then you'll try to raise more money for a second trip... And the cycle continues... And this is basically how all long distance relationships work... (This is straight assumption here, don't kill me for it) Sometimes being in no relationship at all is better than being in a relationship that can cause you a lot of grief... I know this, I've been there... You'll spend all your time trying to make things work, trying to stay together, but just end up being miserable doing so... That isn't healthy. I'm not saying to stop trying or anything, she could very well be the one for you, I'm just saying that it's really unlikely, and probably not a good idea... That's just my 2 cents though =\

      Re: Desperate Situation...

I want to go down there because there are answers I need. I need to be able to help her out with whatever is bothering her, even if there's no chance of me being able to do anything. I can't help by being 1600 miles away.

Yeah, I'll get money and go down there for a week. Chances are, things will work out and be fixed, and I wouldn't be depressed. I've been waiting for 5 months already, and I haven't had the slightest bit of depression in all of it. There wouldn't really be a second trip for me. I go on this trip, then this summer, she's coming up here. (For two to eight weeks, from what it sounds like)

What fails with long distance relationships, is the distance between the two people. If the distance is closed, then the chances of something like this working out increase exponentially. I'm not talking about a week long trip either. I'm talking about moving...

[QUOTE=Tasselfoot;1005520]also, gas is cheaper than you think. figure about $20 for 200 miles. all highway driving, you can almost certainly get better milage than that, but i'm just playing worst case. 3200 miles round trip is 16 x 200. or $320. not $500... and as I said, almost certainly less.
          QUOTE]

I drove from Minnesota to Kentucky and back (which is 1600 miles round trip)
for 200 bucks. Now given I was in a full size pick-up with about 600 lbs. of stuff in the back. My truck got 19 miles to the gallon on the highway, so if you have a regular size car, and you get about 24 or so miles per gallon going 3200 miles that's about 135 gallons. Average cost of gas we'll say is about 2.45? $326.67. Tass my friend you are correct as always.

And although I am both with and against your plan have you ever talked to this girl on the phone? Gotten a letter in the mail from them? I mean, I could tell you I'm a 17 year old asian gymnast who loves football and drinks beer but that doesn't mean I really am. I would be hesitant if I were you unless you have some die-hard proof of who she actually is. And even though everyone hear says relationships don't last when you're 15 (and for the most part I agree) I do know ONE example of where it has and they've been together for 6 years now. So just make sure you take a little precaution before diving into this.

I know who she is and everything. I've talked to her quite a few times on the phone. I know for a fact that she is everything that she says she is. Someone might disagree with my thoughts, but you'll just have to trust me on this.

I guess gas would be MUCH cheaper than I had originally expected. I have a 1995 Thunderbird, which probably gets 22 - 28 miles per gallon. My dad says that it could go 250 - 300 miles on a full tank of gas, so that's how I made an equasion. 3200 miles, divided by 300 miles per tank at $40 - 50 per tank, would be about 10 - 11 tanks. 10.5 * ~$45 would be $472. I never thought of it the other way.

btw right now, gas is $1.99 where I live.

              1. It wont be even close to that in Cali. Probably about 3-3.5 per gallon there.
              2. If it costs $2 per gallon and it cost $50 to fill up your tank that means you have a 25 gallon tank (doubtful in a Thunderbird, but for the sake of the argument). 25 gallons at 22 miles per gallon (low end of your range) you're still making 550 miles per tank. Multiply by 6 tanks and you're at $300 . Add probably another $20-$30 for Cali and that's probably about right. Which brings you to about $320 again.
              3. Nice car.

                1. Girls don't exist on the internet.
                2. I just spent my money on drugs.
                3. Why would you ask a bunch of internet kids which you CAN NOT rely on to get ANYTHING done?

I feel for you man i know what it is like to care for some one and not be able to get to see them. I am in some what of the same situation except i am further away. I am older than you but still have no job. However given a few years i hope for my chances to get better. I do however think things through and do realize the chances are low and have come to accept the fact that it probably wont work. All that a side i am still willing to try. Good luck to you and keep your hopes up.

I already know this. I've known the whole time that the chances are so low that it's best if I just drop it and move on. I'm not going to do that though.

i've got to say that i admire your determination to see this girl. What's got you so hot over seeing her anyway? Some type of incentive or promise she made? I don't think it's feasibly possible for a 15 soon to be 16 year old to pull a cross country feat like that in such a short amount of time. Best of luck to you anyway though, i'd like to see you succeed. You should let us know if you manage to pull it off and what it was like.
