    Gaim screennames?

Since when is Gaim a network in which a person can have a screenname? Last I checked it was a multi-network client commonly used for easy communication in one program between MSN, AIM, Yahoo and other chat networks.

By the way: Windows doesn't suck that bad, AIM only sucks because of ads and inability to remove formatting on incoming messages, and dell is the best computer for the money (ie cheap as hell and still relatively decent).

I had problems with Ubuntu installation on my Thinkpad, which made me want to use Gentoo. Overall any distro can be a lot of fun to play with on a laptop. As some advice, look up all your hardware before attempting to install onto a laptop. You should be able to get the media buttons working somehow though.

Looks like Mr. "I-use-gaim-so-im-1337" isn't that elite after all

If you look at it from the outside (general system specifications), then Dell appears to be a good deal overall. HOWEVER, actually looking at the brands they use for their hardware (i.e generics, refurbs, and really bad brands like Samsung for hard drives), the interior design (they basically throw out good cooling), their inferior external chassis (plastic front, anyone?), and the really bad additional software they just pile on your OS would make you think otherwise.

My only other concern is with the Intel Core Duo's power saving capabilites. AMD uses the PowerNow software drivers to automatically underclock your CPU when near idle, and I don't know if linux would be able to do the same (unless if its purely firmware driven).

OK someone needs to slap this thread back on track.

Smitty I don't have GAIM but from what I read, my AIM is civicplaya313 if you want to add it anyways.
