Yesterday i think was the longest day of my life. We had to get up at 3 in the morning (i didn't even go to bed) to get to the airport for a 6:30 flight to Atlanta. After we landed in atlanta, they announced they were going to be demolishing an old flight tower. It was crazy... the entire airport came to a halt. All the flight workers were out there, standing on top of their bulldozers, vehicles, etc. just watching it. When the tower came down, the top fell off and the tower just toppled over. It was cool as ****.
Then came the 3 and a half hour flight to Nicaragua.... usually I can sleep on flights, but for some reason I just could not do it. It went by so slowly... they had this flight screen that told you where you were, speed, how long we've been in the air, how far we had to go.... every time i looked up at it, it seemed like only a couple of minutes had gone by. It was agonizing.
So we get to Nicaragua, right... and it's like a hole different world. We're driving along the road with our Nicaraguan driver, and there are tons of people on bikes, walking... I've never seen anything like it. The guy told us that the average salery in the country was something like $58 a month. Quite an eye opening experience, and made me realize how lucky I am to be an American (i personally don't give a **** what you think about america, so rai-rai, all you people who are like "america blows blah blah blah" don't bring that up) It's about a 3 hour drive to the place we were staying, and it was just 3 hours of seeing these little houses, the dogs just roaming the street, the kids riding their bikes. It was crazy.
We finally get to the house, which is in a gated community with security EVERYWHERE, after traveling for about an hour on I think is the worst road I've ever been on. It was like riding a roller coaster, except with potholes. And our driver is freaking crazy so he was driving 60 miles an hour, and our heads are hitting the roof of the truck we were in. At this point I'd gone about 36 hours without sleep, so I wasn't exactly happy, but as soon as we got to the house, I was fine.
But where we are right now is a beautiful spot. We get a great view of the pacific ocean, and i'm going surfing and fishing later 8) I'm here for a week, but hopefully it doesn't go by too slow haha
Peace
