I think Linux is probably the better OS, but currently its not mainstream... So yea, thats why I have both. If there was a great C/C++/C# IDE (Like Visual Studio) for Linux, I would probably have installed Ubuntu on all my systems right now.

Yes, Linux doesnt work well with those apps (Emulated that is.) But there are many alternatives.

What does that have to do with it. Those two quotes are not connected. So what, I am 14, but for the past 7 years I was working with Windows.

          RE: Re: Linux Anyone?

I use Fedora Core 4 as my main operating system. In the past I've used some other Red Hat OS's, FreeBSD, Mandrake, and I've made some attempts at installing Gentoo (which I am going to sit down one day and install it correctly ). Oh, and no operating system is completely bug free, and, as much as I regret saying this, Linux is no exception.

One of the nice things about Linux is that not many people write viruses or spyware for Linux.

Linux? I'd rather use a Unix or Windows.
I know Linux runs on Unix, moron
Still, it isn't so bad, I suppose.
I'm lying. If it weren't for applications running on Windows, I'd rather have Linux over Windows.

I don't use Linux because I don't feel like that.
Fojar is right, too. I see kids messing around with critical system files on Windows, fuck the hell out of them, and then come to me for help. Our school tech guy is just as retarded as they are, and wipes the C drives for simple problems (i.e unwanted games that they are unsure how to uninstall). Then I see smart people staying the hell away from that stuff unless they know what to do, and they never get problems.
What kind of a tech guy doesn't know what the cord connecting computers to the internet is called anyway?

Also, you do mean you work 'with' Windows, right? Because I've been working 'with' Windows for forever, too.

I tried using redhat v9 or something like that. Didn't really like it too much, you have to do alot of stuff on your own. I'll probably try a different distro sooner or later.

Sorry. me and typing things right in a post dont mesh well together.

BTW. one of these days i am going to install fedora core 4 instead of 1. I am just too lazy.

Linux is still better than windows no matter how you slice it. Maybe once Bill Gates takes time off from squashing competitors and counting his money he will listen to the public and make his OS less retarded.

Windows is only buggy if you are stupid. kthx, die.

By the by, most people's complaint about windows is viruses.

I must say that, if you have a virus, in 99.9999999 percent of the cases, IT IS YOUR FAULT- went to ANY website with IE, went to ANY website without Mozilla Firefox- and Script Block, and the variety of other very protectice extensions for Mozilla.

and the honest truth is WINE isn't that good, nor are many other windows emulation/expirience emulating programs for linux *glares at KDE accusingly*, oh, and you don't get DX9, so have fun porting applications who refuse to give you the source code to linux.

I don't really have a problem with linux user- hell, if I had any use for it whatso ever, and it didn't TAKE AWAY from what I currently do with windows, I'd probably use it, but there is nothing more that I hate than anti-windows kiddies, like you. "OLO L BILL GATEZ == gAY", "M$PAINT OLOL", "WINDOZE IS 2 BUGGY". I think the only valid argument for people who don't know C++, that are using linux is- they aren't willing to buy, or pir8 windows.

No, no it's not, for the common user (me, and everyone else in the world) it's a pain to get to working properly with ALL the hardwawre, and often, just doesn't have a driver yet, and some things never get a driver for linux, because so few people have them. Oh, and gaming- I know it's possible to game on linux, but usually it's completely reliant on a few key, skilled developers developing a proprietary opengl renderer for whatever game you are trying to play, sounds like fun, eh?

Hmmm, if bill gates were trying to squash his competiors, wouldn't there be a Windows PC? Or a windows mp3 player? No, other people do this for him, because the fact is his software is very compatible, especially for it's ease of use.

Yes, bill gates is rich, he's made an easy, pretty, and compatible piece of software, and shelved it for an ok price.

Be more specific, but since you have probably already left the forum, because you are a fucking nooblet, I'll elucidate FOR you.

These are the points you could've POSSIBLY have made.

                              -Insecurity

Uh,... it's a secure operating system, if you read, and use the readily availible fixes ALL over the place.

                              -Slowness

It's slow because it looks pretty, manually make it look less pretty, and it will go faster.

                              -Price

It's pricey because it works, but even at that- it's not too expensive, and it comes with most pre-built computers, which I know alot of people use.

                              -Bill gates == gay

No, he's married to a female.

-It's built off an OS he bought

So? He's improved upon MS-DOS 4 quite alot since he bought it.

                              -64 Bit support

Eh, as it becomes more used, it's developer support will grow- not only because it costs alot to release to versions of a piece of software, it's new hardware, with a new architechture- it's not amazingly well standardized/researched afaik- especially compared to x86 which has been around for years now.

                              -Driver support

Holy shit, shut the fuck up- yes, you have drivers for defunct pieces of hardware pop up for Linux every once and a while- but that's because alot of open-source dev's use Linux, and have down time, and old hardware. If you wanted to, you could very easily develop drivers for such hardware for windows too.

                              Ok, that's my $1.00

Yo deltro, I see we have a windows fan. Yes I could have made all those completely accurate points. Maybe I was a little too pissed off from reformatting my computer last month because windows takes security as seriously as protecting files. (Several itinerations of windows randomly delete files to make space.) And btw windows has crushed his competion, the freaking OS competition. The only reason I have not switched to Linux is because playing WOW is way to buggy. Oh and the virus thing. I recently stumbled onto a drive by kelogger program. If you don't know what that is, being the awsome that I am, I'll tell you. Lets say you open my web page, boom I can instantly download it to your PC and watch every keystroke you make and no Mozilla does not protect against it. However if the big M gets its act togther it can stop the program wich is convviently named WINSPY!!!. But no that would actually take work for them which would delay its Vista OS which Microsoft has decided to rush out minus tons of features it promised. And all the points you made were pretty good too.
