In "Sharing and Security", which is in the drop-down menu when you right-click something, you can set the folder options to "Allow users to see, but not change."

There you go.

I set my "take from me" folder to that, then made a folder for people to write to if they wanted to.

I would, but I have too many sensitive FFR files scattered on my computer, with various passwords and secrets inside.

Ummm a much better, more stable, faster, version of this has been out forever free with windows.. Have you guys never heard of a VPN?

Hamachi is much easier to deal with... it's easy to connect, with no complicated setup/configuration to worry about.
