I've tried both and I like Firefox better, especially the newest version, but Opera isn't open-source, which I think is a great way to make something great better.

This one's not bad:Originally posted by kickassbuddyThe only thing that sucks is that you can't use any skins for it.

This version has a few things that bother me so far. Can't remember them all other than that the cursor changes as you change the location of it without actually moving it. As in; scroll whell down without moving the cursor. Before, it never changed. Now, it changes for the split-second it's over something else.
Kind of annoying.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Firefox 1.5 RC1
I'm curious. How many people would pay to use Firefox if IE was the only alternative? I know people like LD would, and people like me use IE even though FF is free, but would there be many to shell out some measly one-time fee to get FF?Originally posted by MoogyOpera is a big piece of crap. They made it free because nobody in their right mind would buy it.
One thing I didn't like about FF was how, when you want to select part of a URL you had to click to highlight everything, then click to put the cursor in one place, and THEN start highlighting what you want. That is opposed to just clicking once to select everything and then being able to highlight from there, like in IE. Sure, it's little, but I didn't like it. Is that fixed with the later version?

Re: RE: Re: RE: Firefox 1.5 RC1
Um, why would you even highlight a URL in the first place? Just right click > copy link location. But if you really want to, highlighting works the same in Firefox as it does in every other program.Originally posted by GuidoHunterOne thing I didn't like about FF was how, when you want to select part of a URL you had to click to highlight everything, then click to put the cursor in one place, and THEN start highlighting what you want. Also: I've never had a problem with streaming anything in Firefox, on either my laptop or my desktop. Anybody that claims to have problems is installing the plugins wrong.Comment

Noticed something else.
On another forum, idiots constantly screw up their signature size limit, so they added some code to make it so that you can manually scroll it to see it all. All you do is highlight and drag down to see it all. Or at least, that's what I used to do. Doesn't work in RC1.
Also, when I'm doing full replies, I can no longer click anywhere in the text field. Just the first line. Very annoying.

I can click anywhere just fine. Anywhere, on any line. Cursor cursor click click.
Yep, works fine for me. SMF's image scrollbar thing still works fine, too.
In all honesty, I've used Mozilla for around 8 or 9 years, since I started using the internet (Netscape back then, haha), and I've never had ANY of the problems people claim to have with it. It either likes me or you guys just don't know how to use it.Comment

1.0.7 definitely isn't the "full" version. 1.5 is the newest version of Firefox, in development all year.

Cool.
Also, I REALLY like 1.5's ability to drag tabs around by default. You needed a buggy extension for it before.Comment

I think it's great that FF is getting users away from IE...
..but I love Opera way more than FF. I love how pretty much everything I need comes with Opera already. Plus the interface, in my opinion, is so much sleaker and better looking.
I'm big into efficiency and maximizing use when on the computer. It shows considering how I have set up my computer. All my icons off my desktop and into my quick launch, Trillian is docked on the right side of my 1280x1024 desktop, a button on my mouse is set to open background tabs in Opera, mouse gestures in Opera, etc...Comment

Yes
Sorry, there is no automatic install. Please visit this site to download and install the plugin manually.
After installing QT, and it still not working, I searched google for answers. When a lot of people seemed to have this same problem, the only answer was to turn to the alternate quicktime. Then going into the MIME settings and doing something. After doing all this and it still not working. I said $*%# it. Got Opera and have had ZERO problems ever since.
I get the same exact QT thing and it drives me crazy. I'm not going to switch to Opera though... going from IE to FF was hard enough.
I got this right-click -> "view in IE" add-on thing or whatever though and it makes it a little quicker to get around that stuff.-JamieComment
