I had no idea what "dutch" meant until about a month or so ago. And I learned what it meant in, of all places, Japan. Some girl had this phrase book and it had "going dutch" in it.

Do people actually say that? I have never heard it before.

Hmm.. the only thing I see wrong is how the guy encouraged her to get the drinks - although, ultimately it is HER fault for assuming that the guy would pay. She had it coming - it's not like the guy is required to tell her, people aren't THAT stupid. If she was seriously worried about paying her own way, she would have said something.

Good for him. i always pay for at least half the bill. Sometimes i pay the whole thing. But then i don't normally go out with total strangers.. normally it is just dinner with a friend or something, so kind of different, i guess that doens't technically count as a 'date as such.

But i would still pay my half if i was on a real date! Independant woman

I always pay for dates. Well, if I care about the girl at all. If I don't, then I'll take us somewhere cheap- I can afford $5 for McDonald's.
