Today, I Found Out Something Awesome.

I was at a party, right? And I see that my friend's little sister was dragged along and she's reading a book in the corner. So I go look and see what book it is.

"Wow, you actually took my advice picked up that book. I told you it was a great book, isn't it?"
    "Yeah, it's pretty good."
"...Why are you reading it, anyways? You really took my advice?"
"No, it's required reading for school."

I thought I was going to flip out right then and there, but I didn't. Instead, all did was yell to myself, "OMFG THEY MADE ENDER'S GAME 9TH GRADE REQUIRED READING OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG"

So, yeah. That was really cool to find out.

RE: Today, I Found Out Something Awesome.

A bunch of the 9th graders at mine and Snapps' school had to read it. Not our English class, though.

    Awesome.

Good book and all, but uh.. why is it required reading? You're not supposed to read enjoyable books, god .

Ender's Game wasn't a very good book, I read it 2+ years ago and it turned me off reading for the rest of my life. Then again, I never really read in the first place.

It's seems like a 30 year old star trek fan who still lives in his parents basement wrote about his dreams. :P

Ender's Game is the story of a little boy's breaking point as he is a tatical genius and a monster forced to become the savior of the world. All I'm asking is why hasn't this been turned into a movie yet?

I got to read The Da Vinci Code in English class last year.

I got yelled at for reading late at night, it was just too good.

It was weird because it was for school.

I had great req'd reading... well, choices at least. James Michener and Alexander Dumas and Leon Uris. Excellent books and LONG, LONG, LONG. I was the only person in my entire Track (2nd track for English, about 100 people) to read the Michener books on the list (Space and Chesapeake), both well over 1000 pages. I <3 Michener.

I highly recommend The Source, Space, Chesapeake, and Hawaii for anyone interested in excellent Historical Fiction novels that go into amazing depth, as each of those books are 1200+ pages, I believe. I've read a few other books by him too.
                        RIP

I really want to read that. It sounds really interesting.

And Ender's Game was an ok book. I didn't like how every chapter all they did was fight.

I've never read this book... I'd say that I would read it in my free time, but the only time I can make myself read and enjoy it is when I'm grounded and that's the best thing to do. Also, my school hasn't had ANY REQ'd READING FOR ME AT ALL. I think I've fallen through the cracks, but I really don't care.

I read it. It was good for a book...

I'd recomend it if you have time to read.
