Viola is the worst instrument ever.

(Cellists and Violists are bitter enemies).

Though they do have some cool parts in Russlan and Ludmilla, and Phantom of the Opera. That's seriously it, though.

Oh, and maybe some Vivaldis. Cause he was awesome.

    Signature subject to change.

    THE ZERRRRRG.

Stretchy, I want to hear you in the chat with your French Horn. I love the sound of it, and since I don't have my own, I need to hear it again. It has been too long.

I'm pretty sure Hans would do that more willingly. He only plays it 4 hours a day.

Trumpet, for 6 years now. I did it by choice of course. Why? The reason is actually kind of silly.. I remember my friend from Grade 3 telling me that if I ever pick a musical instrument, that I should play the trumpet. That's exactly why I play it, and still do to this day.

Thank you, but, no I havent taken a photography class. It isnt like I could even if I wanted too...the photo teacher at my school hates me.

The only reason I opened the blinds was because my ceiling lights didnt give off enough light, and I hate flashes...so, I opened the blinds.

Anyone willing to type out the fingering (valves) chart for the french horn. (ex. for a trumpet= 'C=0' 'D=1+3' 'E=1+2' 'F=1' etc.)

That's the best link I found so far... (lot easier to goole search a fingering chart, so you can see on the staff which note you'd be playing)

If you REALLY want me to type it all out, I will.

And, ya, forgot to mention I played piccolo in 12th grade... and, yes. That thing can be the most EVIL instrument ever!! Name another instument that can deafen your ear, or at least leave a nasty ringing, without being amplified. (Get used to it after a while... different story for the person to your right, tho... ><" )

Thx Completelyincomplete for the sig ^^

Wow, those are incredibly incorrect (at least for the B-flat horn).

I can't tell if yours is Bflat or F (is there a trigger on the back?), and if it is Bflat, I'd be happy to type out the fingerings for you. The Bflat horn is great -- all the fingerings for the F horn work on it, but not vice versa (I think).

                                Alright, Jewpin, check it out.

All brass instruments have a pattern with their fingerings, they just start on a different pitch.

                                0/2/1/12/23/13/123/0.

If you know how to play the trumpet, you can learn how to play the horn. On the F side(aka without trigger), all of the fingerings are exactly the same, just an octave up. A bottom line E on the trumpet is 12, and a 4th space E is open, right? Well, with the horn, it's just an octave apart. Bottom line E is open, and the octave below that is 12. So, if you think of it that way, you're pretty much set with the F horn.

Now with the Bb side, you have the same pattern, but like every varying brass instrument, your open note is going to start on a different pitch. It is only a 4th up from trumpet, so instead of your open note being a C, it is an F. The same pattern applies, E being 2, Eb 1, etc.

Now, people play a double horn because of tuning issues. There are just some notes on the F horn that are just really out of tune. There are some notes( a lot, actually >_>) on the Bb horn that are really out of tune. So you put these two together, tuning your horn becomes SO much easier. The general rule is to play everything second line G and below on the F horn, Ab an above on the Bb horn.

Another note about the Bb fingerings:

Ab, A, Bb, B, and C all have the same fingerings as the F horn. It makes sense, since it would be like the Eb, E, F, F#, G on trumpet. I just thought I'd point that out. You'll likely have to learn a new set of fingerings for C# and above, but if you don't feel like looking at a fingering chart, then this logic will be good to use.

PS: If I was unclear on anything, let me know. It's early, and some things could easily be very confusing.
                                hi
