have a computer problem can anyone help?

This is my first post so go easy on me.
I have a pretty good computer. I can play Counter strike very fine on my comp but when it comes to any flash or java or download online game from websites like addictinggames.com, my comp lags like hell and I cant play.
For example when I play FFR i have to play in a low resolution mode so it lags less but it still lags. Here are my computer's specifications :

    Asus motherboard
    Dual processer 450 Mhz cpus
    Scuzzy hard drive and system
I dont have a scuzzy card its built in for more speed
64 megs video card its a 3D prophet
    256 megs of ram
    and cable internet
I can download with a normal cable internet speed

If you dont know what scuzzy is : its a system a lot faster than IDE. IDE is what most systems use.

I have no Idea why it lags I think its a windows problem but Im not sure.
    Can anyone help me?

450Mhz isn't enough to run ffr absolutly perfect or good......

A 1.7Ghz Celeron even lags at high quality....and P4 1.0Ghz runs almost perfect at high, usually have to run at low and see perfect....

I see absolutly perfect 30fps on my 3.0Ghz oc'd from 2.4.... (Same with Multiplayer)
look at mine if you want....

Get a new socket 478 cpu (if your mobo supports it) and if not, buy a Asus P4S800

What web browser are you using? What version of flash are you using? When did you last clear your cache?

I use internet explorer i think i have the most updated flash
by the way my motherboard has two 450 MHz cpus who work in parrallel as in they seperate the workload in two so they process more bits of information at one time. But then again the computer is starting to get old and no I cant upgrade the cpus anymore. Thanks anyways guys

I also clear my cach regularly

Well, if I were you, I'd get a new computer.

www.ibuypower.com has some awesome deals on awesome computers, if you don't mind the long delivery. I know that it sounds unreasonable to buy a new rig just to play FFR, but your current one is obsolete, and eventually you will not really be able to do too much with it--if you can right now anyways.

The flash player cannot send directions to your video card, so no matter how good your computer is overall, all it comes down to is your slow processor not being able to handle ffr.

while you upgrade you might want to get more ram as well.

Assuming you have two 450 MHz processors, that's 900 MHz. Still nowhere near enough for FFR.

Also, a quick Google search for "Scuzzy" yields this: http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/...214242,00.html

It does not increase your computer's speed at all - it just increases the speed at which you interface with hardware as compared to other parallel data transfer interfaces, i.e., USB.

RE: have a computer problem can anyone help?

Moogy I tried to explain earlyer that you do not simply add the cpu power together because the cpus dont work in series they are in parallel, just like in an electric circuit. It's not two different computers. the cpus are linked together so the power is multiplied.

I dont know if you knew this but cpus have speed, calculated in MHz and, an amount of information they process at one time, in bits. Im not sure how many bits we're at right now but intel hasnt changed it in a long time so it must be the same. The way the processers work is that they divide the workload in two so if you have for example 100 bits of information to process you divide it in two : 50 bits for each 450 MHz instead of 100 for 900 MHz also there is another thing called pipelining for cpus and its kind of long to explain but it basically boosts up your cpus power by reducing its reliability.

All of this boosts up my computers cpu power but there is a catch. Computer programs do not normally use the two cpus power. Windows XP does but I dont know if flash and internet explorer do, that's what I want to find out. Sorry if I wasnt more specific before.

One more thing if you check the hard disk speeds of scuzzy they are a lot faster than IDE and if the transfer rate between your cpu and your hard disk is faster that makes your computer go faster too.

But im gonna have to admit that it might be time to upgrade to a better computer but i want to make sure i have done everything I can before I do that.

Thanks for your input till now.

The shit? I didn't know Asus made dual cpu boards. It must be older, considering you've got 450s in there.

By the way, having dual processors has no effect on FFR. If it did, P4 HTs would behave the same way. So that's not the problem. I have never heard of this Scuzzy stuff, so if there's a problem, that sounds like a likely candidate.

This is offtopic, but I actually learned about Scuzzy from a Dilbert strip when I was 9 or 10. XD

Duel pro's = Better for multi tasking programs. But it would be better on 3d video games such as the poster said "counter strike. Such as if you had duel 1.8GHz Pros it work work better on halo then a 2.4GHz Pro would work.

*edit* Scuzzy = Old, bad, and big. I hate scuzzy, the only thing that they are good for is finding a common hard drive fan case.

I dont know why you dont like scuzzy because they are made for those big companies, in other words they are big fast and very long lasting and what do you mean they are old?

The new 80 pins, that are the latest ones, do burn a hole in your wallet but they are still really freaking fast.

By the way tnyhwk900 I am pretty sure that the scuzzy system is not the problem because when you play flash games or online games you dont download that much information on your hard disk it stays mostly in your ram memory or your cache.

Comming back to the topic, looks like my computer is starting to get old. it figures because my dad built it in 2000 I think. Back then it was top of the top and really expensive. You couldnt buy the stuff off the shelf it was all ordered from the company. Even though it was really expensive I guess times have changed.

Looks like the time for my computer has come and passed my he rest in peace
