RE: Re: RE: Learning the piano.

The only thing piano will help you with in Stepmania is your coodrination/dexterity. Same goes for IIDX(if you play one handed). It won't help your timing.
I took lessons a long time ago and I haven't practiced piano for 5 years. I can still play stuff like Fur Elise and Turkey March(..B?) though. Except the left handed parts. For some reason I CAN'T get both hands to work at the same time like that. But I can play both parts separately. And I can do 11 footers in Stepmania with only my left hand. It sucks :/

My friend tought me like 2 songs, but I never bother to actually take lessons. I was thinking about taking them this year, but then I was like......no.

I always thought band and orchestra instruments were harder to play then the piano... for starters you always get the note dead on... there is no misplacement of a finger or bad judgement. Then there's the whole usage of the bow for orchestral instruments or the slidey part of the trombone. Meh, I tried picking up the piano one time but couldn't get the hang of it. <3 violin, viola, bass, and cello.

I give extreme super dooper props to anyone that can play classics such as Rondo Alla Turca...

I've been playing the piano for about 11 years and I doubt I'll quit anytime soon, because it's a fun instrument.

RE: Re: RE: Learning the piano.

I've taught myself the piano over the last 6 months... I keep trying to do it one handed though, which doesn't really work out, obviously. I need to get myself some lessons so I actually can get a feel for what I'm doing. -_-

Gosh, piano is the one of the only instruments that I DON'T do. I do Trumpet, F Horn, Clarinet, Euphonium, Baritone, and Ocarina, but piano is still crazy to me.

If anything, Stepmania helps you play the Piano.

Very true. I started playing stepmania, and FFR and such about, well when FFR first came out, and stepmania, I don't remember. But my friend gives me lessons and teaches me songs to learn by heart and once I leran them, I play them better than he does. It's not for sure that SM helps you play piano better, but it sure does seem like it. It's all about the hand-eye coordination.

I've been playing for ten years and i just passed my Grade ten exam. (Would of passed it a while ago because i took a years break to try jazz piano).
I think it doesn't really help that much except with a bit of rhythm, like i can pick up the beats easier in a song. i dunno =/.

Starting ARCAT 11 soon i think...

moonlight sonata isn't that hard. I can play rev etude, minute waltz (it's actually a cut out of the entire piece), rondo (fairly easy song), fotbb im starting (it's not going to be that bad), hungarian rhapsody, polonaise, learning rach 3, etc. I hated it for a while but I'm enjoying it again.

Right now I'm trying to learn rach 3, piano impromptu no.1 (competition winning composition), and nocturne for left hand alone (yes a difficult two handed piece that can be played with JUST your left hand XD). I've been looking for molto vivace... if you find it tell me.

I think piano helps with finger speed and rhythm... Why do you think me and Reach can trill so fast and move so fast... Although part of that is just with naturally how you were born. I think it helps a bit like iidx did ALOT MORE THOUGH. IIDX and other bemani are alot more helpful than piano IMO.

You can't find it if you actually search for "molto vivace". ''molto vivace'' is just telling us its speed, not really the song name =p...
