I just remembered this weird trick for absolutely no reason. Go get a ruler or any other long, stiff (no jokes :P), flat object. Take your two index fingers and balance the object on your fingers so that it is as HORIZONTAL as you can make it, and your fingers are pointing away from you, as though you were pointing at someone in front of you. They should be near each other, but not touching.
SLOWLY try to move both your fingers away from the middle of the object, at the SAME time. You can't do it. One finger will move and one finger will stay. No matter what, with any similar object I've tried. I think it has something to do with the laws of physics involving friction, but I'm not quite sure.
The only way I see that you can do it is if it's on a radical slant. You can move the finger at a lower height while the ruler slides down on the other.
I just always thought it was weird, because it's not something you ever think of. If you had to guess without knowing that it doesn't work, you'd probably assume you can do it.. just move both fingers at the same time. But wooah, it doesn't work. Or am I the only idiot who would assume such a thing?
Try. Discuss. Call me a moron.
Edit: LIKE THIS: I used one hand because I needed the other to take the picture, but just imagine the two fingers it's laying across are each on a separate hand.
