Monica Castillo of RogerEbert.com gave the film four out four stars, stating "Cuties is a difficult and challenging film, pushing the idea of 'depiction does not equal endorsement' to its limit."

tbh i scan it like those pieces of "art" that look more like garbage than they do installations, or the banana taped to the wall, in that controversy is absolutely part of the design as a janitor might interact with the "garbage" by throwing it away, not realizing it was a display

i don't think it's quite that appropriate, even if you have buy-in from the young actors' parents...but of course, it's arguable that that's part of the interplay, that young performers have the blessings of their parents

makes me feel pretty uncomfortable, anyway

I'm actually somewhat afraid to talk about this film online.

The overall conversation is somewhat rightfully one-sided. It appears as though if you have any other take than "delet this fam," then you are assumed to be a pedo. And who knows when the conversation will be brought up again and taken out of context.

It's gross, sure. But that's not the entire focus.
