I think the biggest problem here is the lack of a PC/MAC/Linux version.
I don't think they'll get the backing they're looking for, just because the majority of people today expect full(or partial) cross platform. And I'd say it is a safe bet to assume that the majority of people who want to back a rhythm game, have computers--before any other console.

I could be wrong, but I'm not going to back it.

Yeah this. I have no consoles and no plan on ever getting one so I'd probably never end up playing it unfortunately I might back it with a small amount though just because the world needs more good music games and I remember this being pretty good the few times I actually played it.

        No shame in trying though.

I'll consider the $40 pledge and then give away the code.

I'll say I'm not incredibly excited for it for this reason, PC would be nice. However it's still an amazing game, it's what originally got me interested in rhythm gaming in the first place, and will probably make its goal through pure nostalgia power alone. I had fun back in the day with injecting my own custom songs into the PS2 version, and making a clone or two for some other consoles.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Amplitude is probably the reason I got into gamedev and the industry in the first place...

              Hey Guys!
Sorry for not getting in here sooner...CRAZY EXCITING DAY!
We're working up an FAQ right now that will cover a bunch of these questions, but to hit some of the more frequent ones:
              1) VITA - this is definitely in our plans as a stretch goal. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as "just port it to this thing!" and involves a fair amount of dev work, but we'd LOVE to be able to take this experience on the go. If we get funded/close to funded, we'll roll out our stretch tiers. (Maybe even sooner!)
              2) PC - This is a stickier wicket. As some of you have noted, there are good reasons why Amplitude is nicely at home on Sony platforms. We'd love to bring this game to more platforms, but the kickstarter promise is for PS3/PS4 only at the moment. We'll update you if that changes
              3) Calibration - YUP! We'll work out a good calibration solution for all your crazy weird HD TV/Surround Sound nightmare setups :-p
              4) Digital Soundtrack tier - This is a great idea! We'll go discuss it!
              5) Triggers on the controllers for gameplay - For those of you who have flagged this, we're already acutely aware of it. The devs will probably have more to say about it themselves, but I'm confident we can make this game work on PS3 and PS4 era controllers in a way that still feels great. (end PR guy response until someone more qualified can answer this question)
              6) More info on how song voting will work - we envision the song senate level to be a combination of "suggest songs you want to see," "vote on these demos from our audio team" and "help us fill these remaining slots with tracks from this list." It's a little complicated, since our budget level will directly impact the number of tracks we can create (and if we can pursue licensed songs)...but we're committed to making this a fun and interactive experience. More to come as the kickstarter evolves.
Lastly, thanks SO much for being in the first wave of people helping us make this happen. We're really humbled by the support so far and really eager to make this game for all of you!
Keep the questions coming! We're also doing a livestream today in an hour (5pm Eastern) at Twitch.tv/harmonixmusic if you want to get in that chat and bug us there!
              Yours,
              HMXJohnD
Sounding more unlikely that there will be a PC release. Would probably have to wait until it starts to die off on the console before they are allowed to re-release or something.

                Re: "Amplitude" sequel on kickstarter!

Probably stuck with Playstation related systems because of the engine they're using. Porting a full engine to PC would not be easy so I'm not surprised it's not planned.

Wait, isn't activision like one of the biggest video game companies in the world? Why are they looking to kickstarter for funding help?

                    it's not Activision

if it were Activision I would have made a thread telling everyone to not donate.

It's from Harmonix that as far as I'm aware only worked with activision for the first two Guitar Hero games.

At this point, they'll probably only release a smaller-scale mobile compatible version.
