I've heard of people putting nail polish on their nails just so they'd stop biting them since it tastes so bad. No idea if that actually works though.

I'm one of those people who never bites their nails. I just don't see how it would even work... on the other hand, I'm a serious pen gnawer. I'm not sure which is worse.

In any case, I don't think you need to worry about the appearance of your nails in any of the situations you described, or others. Unless you went extreme and your fingertips look mutilated, but that's far from the case.

To stop habits you've had for a very long time, you usually have to pick up something new to replace it, because otherwise you create a void and you're like "normally I'd bite my nails now but now I have nothing aaaaa wat do". Then it's usually a lot easier to build down that second habit with time.

I used to bite my nails, haven't in years, don't remember how I got over it. *Maybe* if you're applying for some super fancy job that requires you to have proper aesthetics, you won't get it for having bitten nails, I guess, but that's a stretch in and of itself. If people avoid you for bitten nails, they're not worth getting to know in the first place.

The best way to do this is to cut them every few days. That's how I stopped myself. It works because if you do choose to bite your nails after cutting them short as hell, it hurts like hell. You're pretty much spraying water in your own face.

However, this also means you will probably develop a habit where they have to be short.

You might remember all well when I would complain that they where too long or I'd literally stop what I was doing to cut them short XD

Ironically though I just finished cutting mine.

And before you ask, yes I can open a can of soda perfectly fine with this.

Edit: rofl this camera's quality is so trash. Price I pay for one handing it.

Don't worry about it dude just wear oven mitts for a while.

if I were an HR person I would be less likely to hire someone wearing oven mitts than someone with bitten nails........

jk neither should be important, although wearing oven mitts at a job interview sounds like an amazing prank.



I've never bitten my nails, but I used to do the equivalent using my other nails. kicked the habit a few years ago. as with any habit of this sort, I think the first step to a correction is paying attention and noticing every time you start.

not the biggest of deals imo. if you feel like it's an issue, then work on a gradual solution.

I've never bitten my nails. When I was a kid my dad would cut my nails then one day he told me to just do it, and I always have used nail clippers! It's weird still to use my left hand to trim my right nails though i'll admit.

I don't think you need nails at all to open soda cans, I push down on the mouth which raises the tab just enough to be able to leverage it open

Thats actually not that low. There is still some untrimmed nail left because if i went that little bit lower it would hurt to do anything. Midnight has them that low it seems like

I must have a high pain tolerance I am not conscious of then, it never hurt to play FFR with the nails that short, and the only person I can tell who hits the keys harder than I do is T-Force.

I usually cut them to that about once a week, sometimes twice. I also usually file them a little with the mini one on my clippers. Nice arch = <3

God my nail habits are weird now that I've actually thought about it.
