Robin Hood information – well-researched articles, ballads, interviews, pictures on the history of the Robin Hood legend from the Middles Ages to today.
Many people used his name throughout the centuries, most notably the groups of theives and bandits that would rob carriages and wagons along roads, which came to the saying to watch out for Robin Hood and his band of merry men, whom steal from the rich and give to the poor. Many people have used his name out of tradition throughout the ages, but none have been identified as THE robin hood. It is only a name given to a single person who leads a band of men that would rob from the rich.
"The original idea of Robin Hood was adapted from mythology and used in society to describe someone of being an outlaw, and lives in the forest whilst having great agility."
tl;dr Robin Hood is like Santa Claus. Not real, just name-calling for a leader of thieves out in the woods, and there were many back in the 1300's.
