SAT is the one where you lose 1/2 a point for answering incorrectly vs. 0 for not answering, right? that's something to consider, especially if you're aware of a certain topic or type of question which gives you trouble.

insane scores up in this thread. listen to what these guys have to say, for sure

Yeah, but it's actually more like .25 points, so it's worth guessing if you can eliminate at least 1 of the 5 choices for a given question.

I actually found the SAT2's to be a more interesting challenge.

I have to write an SAT in two months, since Simon Fraser University is (the only Canadian university) in the NCAA.

              I need to score 820.

              I scurd.

I got like 1280 out of 1600. Think it translates to like 1900/2400 or a little over but that's still not good compared to most of you wtf. FFR too smart.

                  Re: SATs

It was so long ago I wrote this damn thing. I was thinking of going to an american university, decided to take it at the last minute, didn't really study. It was the first run of the new SAT IIRC so I didn't really know what to expect. Got a 2290 or something and then changed my mind and stayed in Canada anyway.

Practice! The math section is so game-able. The questions are really predictable and there are so many study resources out there right now that you can easily score 700+ if you want to.

Verbal can be a bit harder but as long as your vocabulary is sufficient it's pretty easy to boost your score as well.

Just follow Rubix's advice for the essay. What a POS. I tried to write a fancy essay and it ended up being my worst section.

SAT is pretty easy though. Enjoy the good life folks. Writing the GRE and the DAT was significantly more stressful. D:

                    Re: SATs

math was the only part i liked in the SAT. didn't help that the night before i took it i had to rush my mom to the hospital and didn't sleep at all. its all good though i decided before the SAT that i wanted to start off at community college and save my money.

when looking at schools, go for the cheapest option. i know tons of schools that love transfer students and i also know a handful that won't take them if they can help it. just do your research and try to save as much money as you can

Refresh your memory of cursive writing.
It might've not been the SAT, but the other one, but ANYHOO I distinctly remember you had to write your name in cursive on the back of the answer booklet, or last page or something.

It was weird and completely pointless.

I underestimated how much the length of that exam would take a toll on me. Working through the last couple of sections was hell.

                            2120 on SAT.
I only got 82% of the math questions right. >.>
99% and 98% on Critical Reading and Writing (Forget which was which)

But I got a perfect score on Reading and Writing portions of ACT. So I still get decent scholarship money to a lot of places. Math and Science I got 31's, so I only got a 32 composite. >.>

Basically, I relatively suck at math.

                              CR: 800 / M: 750 / W: 750 = 2300

only studied for math which admittedly helped a ton; i suck at it but there's a lot you can memorize/internalize. killed the multiple choice on writing but had to stop halfway through my essay lol

                                I got 2270/9 (740 cr/800 m/730 w) and was overjoyed, now I come here and feel stupid :/

I really didn't study though. I took like one practice test and did questions the day before but other than that I didn't do much, mainly because in my previous experiences with these, studying for a standardized test is about as helpful as bringing eight pencils: marginally helpful, but not likely to be very useful. Plus, I already had 225 on PSAT, and as far as I could see, the difference between a 2250 and whatever I could potentially get by spending a ton of time studying really wasn't worth all the time, especially since my teachers didn't stop the constant tsunami-sized wave of homework as the SAT approached...
                                The renegade has betrayed me.
