that's not sarcasm, that's verbal irony, which is a totally different thing, and the distinction is pretty important
both sarcasm and verbal irony involve making statements that convey the meaning opposite to what is said, but sarcasm is deliberately mocking and is primarily used to express contempt for someone or something, rather than being funny, and is meant to be more obvious; whereas verbal irony can be less obvious and is primarily meant to be funny rather than mocking
all three of bmah's examples would be considered sarcasm, whereas your example is definitely verbal irony
there are also other types of irony like situational irony, where a sequence of events has the opposite result to intentions, like eyelashes getting in your eye (eye-rony?), or getting 1 miss while mashing and this 1 miss costing me a place in a raw scoring tourney (tc_halogen ._.)
