Re: Depression
Middie, I don't think you've dealt with serious depression in your life lmao.
It doesn't matter how long until you've realized you are in depression, cause depression can be really sudden and yes it sucks because you have to adjust to it unexpectedly fast
Solution: Figure out your main problem, it's good you pointed out the symptoms.
And then go about it from there, you'll find your way out. Good luck!
Edit: ok that might have sounded sudden at the end there but I'll be able to be of support (since I'm in school right now.)Comment

Re: Depression
Just shut the **** up. Learn to show some empathy. You're an attention whore. You're not depressed if you can put an lol in that. You also haven't described any feelings at all that show me you are.
You've not gone into any description of when you started feeling this way, what set off your feelings or anything of that sort.
My advice is that you stop being an attention whore.
I suggest joining one of the many groups here on the Forums, like Team Blaze, Team Pokemon, or Team Pony. They are all quite active with their own unique characters and most have a skype group so that you can talk to them on a daily basis. I've got hyperlinks to both Team Pokemon and Team Pony in my signature if you're interested in that...
Best term solution is maybe dust off the phone numbers and launch a phone number your friend's way, wouldn't hurt to try and maybe arrange a day to hang out with them.Last edited by gold stinger; 09-25-2012, 02:13 PM.Comment

Re: Depression
Depression comes and goes in waves, meaning you'd probably be used to it by now if you actually did have it. Regardless, spilling my feelings to someone over chat is always a good remedy for me.Last edited by Pseudo Enigma; 09-25-2012, 02:16 PM. Re: Depression
I am an introvert though. I don't know why it works for me, but it does. Getting more active will help your depression too. Just do a bunch of shit to take your mind off of things for a while. But yeah if you want to talk to your friends, you probably should just force yourself to do so.
I know it's like pushing on a tough elastic band to force yourself to do anything with depression, but you just gotta push on it enough to make it break.Comment

Re: Depression
I'm pretty sure it isn't actually considered depression until it gets to that point. There is still varying degrees of being depressed, but until it starts affecting you and making every day life difficult it isn't considered a disorder.
Not saying that doesn't make it a problem though. You could probably solve the problem by being with your family and friends before it gets serious.
Awhile back I was seriously depressed for nearly 6 months for various reasons and it was affecting my school life and I really couldn't get any work done. I was really against the idea of actually being depressed and I figured that I could just shake it off or overcome it by being "stronger" emotionally or something. It seems it doesn't really work that way even if you try so I eventually went to the hospital and got diagnosed for it and put on some meds. I never noticed any difference in how I felt on them and they gave annoying side effects so I stopped taking them. Eventually I just talked to my family about it and after awhile I felt a little bit better just getting it out there.Last edited by Izzy; 09-25-2012, 02:35 PM.Comment

I think you're lonely..not depressed. If you actually think you're depressed, I recommend you to see a professional. I highly doubt there is a doctor on ffr.Originally posted by One Winged Angelur my favorite :')

Re: Depression
Wouldn't know, I never did.
A feeling of "eh" is more like a feeling of hopelessness which to me corresponds with depression. But yes, you need to be able to say you had this feeling nonstop for at a minimum of 2 weeks (assuming my memory is accurate) before you could actually begin to diagnose.
No one does. Every person is different and you can't act the same with one person as you do another. People are all their own complex "equation" as I'll word it to figure out.
The idea that ANYONE knows how we as people work is preposterous.
That'd be funny if I wasn't massively impulsive.
It's not that she's trying to self diagnose at allI think I understand what Middie's getting at. She shouldn't self-diagnose herself only after a couple of days. Even if she is depressed, why would she go to an FFR forum to talk about it? The solution is obvious. Go reach out to family members or a doctor - however, it's not so simple when one's actually depressed.
To put simply: She's too quick in claiming that she's depressed. It's irksome.
And middie; I do admit, her typing 'lol' makes it seems less serious, but it could be simply a bad habit. What one types doesn't mean how one actually feels.
It's she came HERE of all the places to ask this
No one here really knows who the hell she is I would imagine, so she's going to ask a bunch of strangers about such a personal issue? Are you ****ing kidding me? Typing "lol" makes it seem like this is a ****ing joke to her, you can naturally understand why I said what I did.
I'm not allergic to being nice, I'm just personally insulted she'd had the gall to post that trash.
If you're just occupying your mind away from it, you're not addressing the problem, so the underlying issue still persists. The longer you neglect it the worse it's going to be. You need to be able to open up and talk to someone about it. While it won't help you directly deal with your emotions, it should at least take away the thought that you're alone in dealing with it.Spit on your depression, you don't need it. I don't need mine, why should anyone else get to keep theirs. When I get depressed I tell myself to do shit. Doing shit makes me feel better because it gets things done, and when things are getting done I feel better about my situation in life. So yeah, tell that ****er to get the hell out of there, you don't need it, and it's definitely not helping you get anything done.
that's what I would say if I thought you had depression.
Why would I show this girl any if I think she's full of shit? You're just bashing me like an idiotic moron because you simply don't agree or like me overall and while that's fine as it's your prerogative don't try and say trash like that underneath a lack luster contribution.
To start, the threads not about me. But to appease you, to begin, all depression is serious, if you joke about it, you're ****ing trash. Also, you know nothing about me at all, so what ground do you have to say I've never dealt with it personally? Also, yes the length of time of the feelings does matter. In fact a psychiatrist can't diagnose you with having depression without the symptoms lasting over a period of time. (I'm feeling to lazy to grab either of my psych text books to quote a direct time, but if my memory is correct it's a bare minimum of two weeks or more.)Middie, I don't think you've dealt with serious depression in your life lmao.
Good luck!
"Happy Pills" aren't a solution, they're another tool to beat around the issue or assist you in coping with your issue until you're at a time where they're no longer needed. Using them like a wheelchair for a fat person who's to lazy to walk is just moronic and worse for you than the condition you're supposed to use them to assist with.k I guess I'm the only one who agrees with Middie here... Oh look! There's the door, I'll be leaving now.

Agreed! But when dealing with it I would suppose (depending on the approach) you may become less introverted in the process. Sometimes exposing yourself like that can actually really help you.
This is pretty much the answer in a nut shell. You need to be able to say "I think I have a problem and I want to deal with it" in this case it's "I constantly feel sad ect all the time, I want to get rid of that feeling and be happy again." Something along that line.Comment

Yes, depression is easily solved by simply realizing you are sad and making the decision to be happy.

Re: Depression
This.
edit: just ****ing take your mind off it. Ignore it. It's hard to do, I know. I'd rather punch a moving train than try to ignore it, but if you can manage to ignore it for long enough, life usually takes care of the issue and you find yourself without the issue/random shitty feeling(s)
edit3000: yeah I think I understand what leo meant. There's nothing you can do to solve it, there's just ways to bide your time. For me it usually lets up after a while and I don't feel nearly as bad as before. Taking pills doesn't work though, I've tried them and people said I was like a zombie.Last edited by Pseudo Enigma; 09-25-2012, 04:40 PM.
