Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Someone who can play for a long time and someone who can play very well aren't mutually exclusive. It's not like Guinness is forcing them to play Valkyrie dimension Oni over and over.Comment

Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Heavy difficulty is less than an hour away! Thanks for keeping up with us!
We'll be taking a 15min break at ~1015, then probably just play until we're done.
EDIT
We're back at it! The current record will be broken at 3:25PM EST. Tune in to watch!Last edited by masterhickle; 04-29-2012, 08:52 AM.Comment

Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Oh yeah, once they beat the record, (which they already have) now its about setting the bar for the next record to be broken, in this case: 24 hours.Originally posted by hi19hi19Also why is "summon" in quotation marks as usually that signifies an alternate meaning like for example last night I "visited" your mother but it really means last night I "fucked her in the ass" so exactly what is the subtext of "summon" because I am not sure I am comfortable with the implications
Originally posted by m0deim usually the "nice guy" around these parts.. but this is bad, and you should feel bad. i would rather dip my balls in honey and hover them over a red ant hill than to ever hear such butchered crap.Comment

Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Also, remember that their 5 minute breaks per hour can be banked, but the last hour has to be uninterrupted. CAN THEY DO IT?!Originally posted by thesunfanI literally spent 10 minutes in the library looking for the TWG forum on Smogon and couldn't find it what the fuck is this witchcraft IGR

Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Sorry that I didn't get back to the thread after we started Heavy division. Both breaks and every twenty second break in-between songs were used to conserve energy as best we we could. :3
Those last four hours were absolutely grueling. We ended up taking a 25 minute break before playing for our last hour. Quite honestly, I had never wanted to quit so badly as I did before taking that last break. It was becoming difficult to play Be In My Paradise and Remember You. As soon as we took that break, I went outside, found a nice, open patch of ground, kicked my socks and shoes off, and laid down. We both felt like death ._. . We went back inside and saw a crowd starting to gather for our last hour. We played two sets of Remember You and one set of Be In My Paradise. We opened up a little bit and added some variety as we were starting to find one last burst of energy in each of us. We closed out the marathon with Can't Stop Fallin' In Love (speedy mix) - I managed a full combo and my buddy came close to a AA.
The crowd and our friends definitely got us through that last hour. We owe them (our friends especially) so much for all that they did for us.
Going by our clocks, our total time was 24hrs 11mins, beating the old record of 20hrs 24mins by nearly 4 hours. Now all we need to do is compile all of our videos, pics, and paperwork and send it in to Guinness to get verified!Comment

Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Hi, I'm Donnie, I'm the guy who did this with masterhickle. I honestly could not have done that without him next to me. Between boredom and wanting to quit, I would have fallen into it.
We each made stupid bets. Like almost every time we played Era, on the BPM freeze I'd shout "blind arrow for a dollar", turn around backwards with my head down, and try to get a perfect. I lost that one more than I won, tbh. Masterhickle also dominated me 3-1 when we tried "smallest difference between Perfects and Greats." for an entire set. The first time we did it he had 49 perfects and 47 greats. I just glared at him lol. A few other silly ones was DDR Golf, where we tried to get the lowest score possible. On Bag, I feel like the first 30 seconds of that we each had a score of 0, by getting like 16 goods in a row. We also were like "First person to get an NG, and the opponent CATCHING it in the act" wins. (Not allowed to count OKs on the score screen). Overall, the final score on bets were 8-8.
After getting a break during the standard portion, he and I got a huge energy boost and each got 37 AAs, not impressive on a normal day, but after 12 hours of standing and shifting your weight (all you do in Beginner + Light) it was difficult. I forget the Heavy AAs, but there weren't a ton. Also, we both have easily AAs Can't Stop Fallin in Love (Speed Mix), but between exhaustion and the crowed clapping rhythmically and completely off beat, we both had a decent Great attack lol.
Thank you to anyone who commented in this thread and watched the feed. I would have posted sooner, but I forgot my password, my default e-mail is old and will not accept e-mail messages from FFR (I checked spam/junk filter). I am logged in at work automatically, but I need my old password to change my e-mail or password. Any idea on wtf I do?
Anyway, thank you again. We raised $207 at the venue and $20 online, and people keep coming to me every day about donations.
If you have 30 seconds, can you say a prayer for Dac. Or can you at least keep him in your thoughts? He is undergoing a very heavy treatment of chemo today to prep him for the bone marrow transplant tomorrow. Because of the chemo, he is in a LOT of pain. He was a pretty good ITG player back in the day, and I'd love to stomp arrows with him again.
Much <3,
-DonnieComment
