It will succeed in guessing all the 'famous' TV stars, anime characters, and game characters. Elfen Lied and Touhou Project are probably one of the most mainstream anime related things ever.. no wonder it got it right lol.

Try to have it guess Bollywood stars or characters from really obscure animations - it will fail miserably.

Most of the fail is actually caused by not knowing the answers confidently though when i tried for the obscure it still managed to get it right. Seeing a thread on 4chan and everyone is flipping shit lol

I've known about this for more than a year lmfao, they even have an iPhone app.

It was fun the first few times but then it just got kinda old.

It's pretty cool how the database is pretty much user-moderated through use though.

have been playing this for years in my web / digital class. gets it 9/10 times but have tricked it on a multitude of occasions.

This 'app' has been out for a good few years now lol - it's been on facebook for the longest time. :P Don't see why 4channers are flipping shit over akinator..

Try having it guess any kid from '20th Century Boys' and watch it fail. -_-

Right? The fact that it eventually learns characters it guesses wrong on enough is pretty much the coolest thing ever. Given another decade or so it won't even be fair. The breadth of its database is impressive too. It tends to guess pretty obscure real-life artists, painters, and writers accurately. Even when it doesn't it gets close in creepy ways.
